Colorful Northwest, cultural and tourist destination

(CLO) On the evening of March 14th, in Dien Bien province, the 2025 Hoa Ban Festival and the 8th Dien Bien Province Ethnic Groups' Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival officially opened, attracting the attention of thousands of tourists and local people.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized: "Coming to Dien Bien means coming to a land with majestic natural landscapes and a rich cultural identity of the ethnic groups in the Northwest."

In particular, every March, the pristine white of the Ban flowers blooms profusely across the mountains and hills, creating a poetic landscape and becoming a source of inspiration for the unique cultural and artistic activities of the festival.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that Dien Bien should focus on developing tourism in a professional and modern direction, linked to protecting the ecological environment and preserving the natural landscape.

Promoting and enhancing the brand of the festival is a crucial task, aiming to transform this event into an attractive destination for domestic and international tourists. At the same time, the province needs to strengthen cooperation with other localities and international partners to leverage the value of the Ban flower in its sustainable tourism development strategy.

The highlight of the festival is the 90-minute art program "Dien Bien - The Radiant Colors of the Ban Flower," which combines tradition and modernity.

The program consists of three chapters: "Touching the Realm of Memories," "Sensing the Colors and Fragrances," and "Unleashing the Essence - Reaching for Brilliance," recreating the image of the Ban flower as a symbol of life, indomitable spirit, and the unique culture of Dien Bien.

The art program "Dien Bien - The Radiant Colors of the Bauhinia Flower" features the Bauhinia flower as its highlight.

For the first time, a grand music festival was held immediately after the artistic performances, creating a vibrant and modern atmosphere for the event. Famous artists such as Tung Duong, Double2T, Ngo Lan Huong, etc., brought their hit songs with fresh arrangements, imbued with the spirit of the Northwest region, energizing the festival space.

In addition, on March 13th and 14th, a series of traditional cultural and sporting activities were organized, attracting a large number of locals and tourists, including: the Hoa Ban Beauty Contest – honoring the beauty of the women of Northwest Vietnam; a street parade – showcasing the vibrant colors of ethnic cultures; a highland cultural space – recreating traditional daily life; a competition for pushing bicycles loaded with ammunition – evoking memories of heroic history; and the "Legend of U Va" live performance – presenting unique artistic performances and introducing the distinctive folk culture of the Thai ethnic group.

After 10 editions, the Hoa Ban Festival has become a prominent cultural and tourism event of Dien Bien and the Northwest region. It is not only an opportunity to promote the natural beauty and cultural identity of the ethnic groups but also contributes to the socio-economic development of the locality.

With innovations in both scale and content, the festival is increasingly asserting its position and promises to continue attracting a large number of visitors in the coming years.
