Liverpool still have a lot of work to do before the Premier League season kicks off.
Liverpool spent over £265 million (approximately 9.346 billion VND) in the summer transfer window, bringing in expensive new signings such as Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike. They also parted ways with top stars including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez.

Coach Arne Slot's team still maintains considerable strength, and even has more depth, with the core players from last season remaining, such as striker Salah, midfielders Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, and captain Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool's solid performance gave them a strong start, twice taking an early lead against Crystal Palace with scores of 1-0 and 2-1 thanks to goals from new signings Ekitike and Frimpong in the 4th and 21st minutes. Frimpong's goal, in particular, came at the exact 20th minute and 20th second, coinciding with the shirt number of the late Liverpool star Diogo Jota.
Interspersed between Liverpool's goals was Crystal Palace's equalizer, scored by striker Jean-Philippe Mateta in the 17th minute from the penalty spot.
Crystal Palace, after winning the FA Cup (beating Man City 1-0) and finishing 12th in the Premier League last season, have not seen many changes to their squad, with manager Oliver Glasner retaining his top stars such as center-back Marc Guehi and strikers Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eberechi Eze.

Crystal Palace's stability, after being outplayed in the first half, allowed them to create an even match and even dominate Liverpool in the second half, before shockingly finding an equalizer in the 77th minute through Ismaila Sarr. This sent the match to a penalty shootout. There, after a tense penalty shootout, Crystal Palace won 3-2 to unexpectedly claim the FA Community Shield title.
Liverpool lost on penalties after striker Salah and midfielder Mac Allister both missed their firsts, allowing Crystal Palace to capitalize and convert their penalties to win 3-2, despite having two players, Borna Sosa and Eberechi Eze, also miss theirs.
Having lost the FA Community Shield, Liverpool clearly still have a lot of work to do before the Premier League season begins on August 16th, when they will open their campaign against Bournemouth at home.
