To ensure safety and thoroughness, the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV, the investor) mobilized more than 15,000 people for the construction.
ACV leaders have instructed contractors to continue working "three shifts, four teams" regardless of the time to complete key items, especially the runways, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, and passenger terminal equipment installation.
Supporting tasks such as surface drainage, anti-slip coating, expansion joint sealing, line painting, general cleaning, and operation of aviation lighting and signage systems were carried out simultaneously and urgently.
The baggage handling system, X-ray machines, escalators, staircases, elevators, and jet bridges are also almost completely installed.

One of the key structures, the Air Traffic Control Tower, is also having its terminal equipment installed, in preparation for the test flight and the maiden flight.
In recent days, the training and testing on the flight simulator (SIM) for air traffic controllers at Long Thanh, including scenarios such as bad weather, navigation equipment malfunctions, and aircraft emergencies, has been completed successfully.
The runway lighting system at Long Thanh Airport uses 100% LED technology and is imported from Europe, meeting the highest technical standards in the international aviation field. Field inspections of the taxiways and aprons have also been completed.

According to the plan, technical flights at Long Thanh Airport are expected to take place from December 15th. The aircraft used will be Boeing 787s and A350s, departing from Tan Son Nhat Airport to Long Thanh Airport, and then returning to Tan Son Nhat Airport.
The estimated flight time is approximately 40 minutes. Specifically on December 19th, the plane is expected to depart from Noi Bai Airport and fly to Long Thanh Airport.

According to a representative of the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the unit has completed all infrastructure, equipment, and personnel to serve technical flights at Long Thanh Airport.
The flight operations assurance systems have been deployed synchronously and undergone stable trial operation before commencing operations. Technical work applies multi-layered safety standards, with full backup mechanisms for essential systems such as: communications (VHF, VCCS), navigation, surveillance, message transmission, and meteorology. The air traffic control system operates 24/7, ensuring uninterrupted service...
Everything is proceeding according to plan, with a commitment to ensuring quality and safety throughout the operation.
