Right from the beginning of the new year, many international cruise ships have docked in Vietnamese ports, bringing thousands of tourists to experience exciting journeys across Vietnam. This is a positive sign, pointing towards an optimistic year for Vietnam's international tourism industry in general and cruise tourism in particular.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Luu, General Director of Saigontourist Travel Service Company, the international cruise tourism sector is showing signs of recovery and rapid growth during the 2023-2024 cruise season.

This is a positive result stemming from efforts to adjust tourist visa policies, improve infrastructure, and build new accommodations and attractions that meet international standards while ensuring the exploitation of tourism strengths in each locality. Simultaneously, travel agencies are continuously improving the quality of their services and expertise to retain international cruise ship passengers with the most distinctive and professional tourism products.

Leaders of the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism and the Ha Long International Cruise Port welcomed tourists arriving in Ha Long by sea on the first day of the new year 2024.
Quang Ninh welcomes the first cruise ship of 2024.

Specifically, at Saigontourist Travel Company, in just the first two months of 2024, the company continuously welcomed and served 10 international cruise ships from Royal Caribbean Group, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, Crystal Cruises, etc., to Vietnam, bringing more than 30,000 international tourists to "kick off" the year, an increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2023.

Following the return of the Spectrum of the Seas, Saigontourist Travel Company will welcome the Celebrity Solstice for a 5-day cruise from February 22-26 to Ha Long, Thua Thien Hue, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau; and will provide maritime agency services for the Crystal Symphony cruise ship, belonging to Crystal Cruises, to Vietnam from February 20-25.

It is projected that in 2024, the number of cruise ship passengers will increase by 10-15% compared to 2023. International cruise lines are increasing their voyages to the Asia-Pacific region, including Vietnam. In particular, tourists in Vietnam enjoy long-duration trans-Vietnam cruises, visiting multiple ports in Ha Long, Hue/Da Nang, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, and other locations.
