The Singapore Ministry of Defence announced on October 15th that its air force deployed two F-15SG fighter jets to escort Air India flight AXB684 away from residential areas after the airline received an email alleging a bomb on board the passenger plane.
Singapore's Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said the Air India plane was escorted and landed safely at Changi Airport (Singapore) at around 10 PM (local time). He added that air defense systems and explosives disposal teams were also deployed.

Upon landing, airport police were present to conduct an inspection. The police stated that the security check did not reveal any dangerous devices on board, adding that the investigation is ongoing. "Police take security threats very seriously and will not hesitate to take action against those who intentionally cause public alarm," Changi Airport police declared.
Air India has not commented on the incident. The airline stated that another flight en route to Chicago (USA) had to land in Canada on October 15th as a precaution, following a threat posted online.
Air India and several other airlines have received threats in recent days. On October 14th, an Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was diverted to New Delhi due to a false bomb threat. IndiGo also reported threats targeting flights to Jeddah and Muscat.
