The Department of Agriculture and Environment effectively implements the National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence in the fields of agriculture and environment.

On December 9, 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau province reported on the results of implementing the National Strategy on Research, Development, and Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the period 2021–2025, with a vision to 2030. According to the report, during the 2021–2025 period, the Department of Agriculture and Environment seriously and comprehensively implemented the contents of the National Strategy on Research, Development, and Application of Artificial Intelligence, strengthening the dissemination and promotion of policies and guidelines on artificial intelligence to its subordinate departments and units through the document management system, official email, and the Department's website. In 2025, the Department completed a training course on "Training and professional development in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in administrative work" for 142 civil servants and officials, contributing to raising awareness and skills in applying AI in performing professional tasks. Simultaneously, the infrastructure serving research, development, and application of artificial intelligence has been gradually strengthened and improved, focusing on digital and data infrastructure, meeting the requirements for storing, processing, and exploiting data in the fields of agriculture, resources, and environment. The Department of Agriculture and Environment has implemented and integrated several AI and digital technology solutions in specialized management, serving the analysis and forecasting of environmental data; monitoring agricultural production and aquaculture; and automating reporting processes.

In the production sector, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has directed support for 20 cooperatives to apply electronic logbooks and accounting software, serving product traceability and production management. At the same time, the Department has deployed IoT systems and digital technology equipment in aquaculture, including environmental monitoring sensors, automatic feeding systems, surveillance cameras, electronic production logbooks, and animal growth monitoring devices, contributing to improved management and production efficiency.
Looking ahead to 2030, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will continue to promote research, development, and application of artificial intelligence; develop a comprehensive data infrastructure to support information exploitation and analysis; strengthen training and development of human resources in AI; and expand cooperation with agencies, businesses, and training institutions to meet the requirements of state management and the development of the agriculture and environment sectors in a modern and sustainable direction.
The implementation of the National Strategy on Research, Development, and Application of Artificial Intelligence has created an important foundation for the digital transformation of the agriculture and environment sectors, contributing to improved state management efficiency, modernization of operational methods, and data-driven decision-making. AI applications help optimize business processes, increase accuracy in monitoring and forecasting, support the development of agricultural production towards transparency, traceability, and sustainability, and enhance the capacity of staff to meet the development requirements of the sector in the new phase.
