Healthcare facilities/healthcare units were severely affected. Major impacts on environmental sanitation after the storm and floods included prolonged flooding leading to the spread of waste, animal carcasses, and mud, clogged drainage systems, contaminated drinking water sources, and an increased risk of disease outbreaks.

Working group of the Department of Disease Prevention
Following the heavy rains and flooding caused by Typhoon No. 10, under the direction of the Department of Health, the Provincial Center for Disease Control organized damage assessment, monitoring, and support for environmental sanitation and infectious disease prevention after Typhoon No. 10, and distributed additional Chloramine B and Aquatabs to severely flooded localities to treat water sources.

Previously, the health sector had distributed these disinfectants to health units in the province, providing timely support for storm recovery efforts and protecting public health.

At the meeting, Dr. Le Thai Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Disease Prevention, acknowledged the efforts of the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention in disease prevention and control, water treatment, and environmental sanitation before, during, and after the flood season. The Department of Disease Prevention and Control requested that the Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention proactively propose necessary equipment, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies to promptly handle emergency situations; comply with the directives and official letters of the Ministry of Health on disease prevention and control; and strengthen communication efforts. Also at this meeting, the Department of Disease Prevention and Control donated 70,000 Aquatabs tablets to the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
