Health facilities/medical units were severely affected. The major impacts on environmental sanitation after storms and floods were prolonged flooding causing waste, animal carcasses, mud and soil to spread, clogged sewer systems, polluted domestic water sources, and increased risk of disease outbreaks.

Working group of the Department of Disease Prevention
After the recent floods caused by storm No. 10, under the direction of the Department of Health, the Provincial Center for Disease Control organized damage inspection, monitoring, supporting environmental sanitation and infectious disease prevention after storm No. 10 and providing additional Cloramine B; Aquatabs to heavily flooded localities to treat water sources....

Previously, the health sector had distributed these disinfectants to health units in the province, providing timely support in overcoming storm consequences and protecting public health.

At the meeting, Dr. Le Thai Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Disease Prevention acknowledged the efforts of the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control in the past time on disease prevention and control, water treatment and environmental sanitation before, during and after the storm and flood season. The Department of Disease Prevention requested the Provincial Center for Disease Control to proactively propose necessary equipment, drugs and medical supplies to promptly handle emergency situations; comply with the documents and directives of the Ministry of Health on disease prevention and control; promote communication work, etc. Also at this meeting, the Department of Disease Prevention presented 70,000 Aquatabs to the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control.
