Reasons for heavy rain in many areas of Southern Vietnam on December 11-12.

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, last night and early morning of December 11th, the Southern region experienced rain, moderate rain, and in some places heavy to very heavy rain over a wide area. The Vinh Trung station (Can Tho City) recorded 138.4mm of rainfall, the Hoa An station (Can Tho City) 136.2mm, and the Dien Hai station ( Ca Mau ) 78mm. At the same time, Hue City, Da Nang City, the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa also experienced showers, with localized moderate to heavy rain.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting predicts that over the next 24 hours, the southwestern region of Vietnam will continue to experience rain, with moderate to heavy rainfall of 15-30mm, and some areas receiving over 80mm. In Hue City and the coastal provinces of South Central Vietnam, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, with rainfall of 10-30mm, and some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain exceeding 60mm.

According to meteorological experts, the rain in Southern Vietnam is due to the influence of easterly wind disturbances from the sea bringing moisture inland and a weakening cold air mass, triggering a strong convergence of moisture.

In the North, from the night of December 11-12 to December 12, the region will experience increased humidity and cloud cover, especially in the plains and coastal areas. Rain will occur in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Hanoi , Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Phu Tho, and Tuyen Quang. On the night of December 12 and the day of December 13, a strengthening cold front combined with upper-level wind convergence will cause more rain in the North (including Hanoi). Temperatures in the North on December 13 and 14 may drop, and Hanoi will experience its coldest weather since the beginning of winter.
