Just a few weeks ago, Al Nassr caused a sensation in the football world by offering Ronaldo a half-billion dollar contract. But now, they have become the target of criticism from the entire football community.
Dávid Hancko, the versatile Slovakian defender currently playing for Feyenoord (Netherlands), has just become the victim of one of the strangest stories of the 2025 summer transfer window.
From a seemingly "successful deal" with Al Nassr, Hanko was unexpectedly dropped by Ronaldo's team at the last minute.
Last week, Feyenoord and Al Nassr reached an agreement for the transfer of Hanko worth a total of 35 million euros (41 million USD).
The 27-year-old defender even agreed to personal terms, signing a three-season contract (until 2028, with an option to extend) and bidding farewell to his teammates at Rotterdam to head to Austria, where Al Nassr is holding its summer training camp.
In the original plan, Al Nassr intended to quickly add Hanko to this training camp to help him quickly familiarize himself with the team.
However, things quickly descended into chaos when Hanko arrived. According to reports from AS and Flashscore , Al Nassr immediately ignored the player.
He wasn't allowed to stay in the same hotel as his teammates, wasn't permitted to participate in training, and was forced to stay in a separate hotel. All indications suggested Hanko was no longer welcome.
By the afternoon of July 22nd, Al Nassr made a shocking decision: canceling the deal at the last minute, sending Hanko back to Feyenoord.
"This approach is truly shocking, a real scandal," Raymond Salomon, Feyenoord's technical advisor, criticized without hesitation. "Sending him to training camp only to say there's no place for him is unprecedented."
The event not only had an immediate impact on Hanko – who liquidated his apartment in the Netherlands and said goodbye to his teammates – but also had a ripple effect on other Feyenoord deals.
Specifically, Feyenoord intended to reinvest the money from Hancko's sale to buy two other stars, but now everything has stalled.

As for Hanko, he immediately returned to Feyenoord's training center in Grassau, Germany, where manager Robin van Persie and his teammates still welcomed him warmly.
It is expected that Hancko will continue to accompany Feyenoord in important friendly matches against Nice, Wolfsburg, and several other teams to prepare for the Champions League qualifiers.
International media outlets are still reeling from this story. Goal.com called it "a shocking failed transfer."
Al Nassr has not yet issued any official statement regarding the incident.
The Saudi Arabian team plans a complete overhaul this summer, but so far has yet to make any significant signings other than renewing Ronaldo's contract in a historically expensive deal.
European media outlets are still very curious about how Al Nassr canceled the deal, as previous reports indicated that Hanko had actually signed with Feyenoord.
Whatever the reason, Ronaldo's team set a bizarre precedent in football history. They ordered a superstar worth approximately $41 million, who arrived at their door and then... cancelled the order.
