Son Heung-min's brilliant form for LAFC after just seven games proves his talent and professionalism. |
In a tournament featuring Lionel Messi, Son Heung-min's current explosive performance is surprising. The former Tottenham star has even quickly proven his class, proving he is in no way inferior to Messi.
On September 22nd, South Korean striker Son Heung-min contributed to Los Angeles FC's (LAFC) 4-1 victory over Real Salt Lake in Round 31 of the MLS. In just his first seven MLS games, Son has scored six goals and provided two assists, averaging more than one assist per game.
He only had two games (one as a substitute on his debut) where he wasn't directly involved in a goal. Former Tottenham legend Jamie Redknapp couldn't understand why the Spurs let Son Heung-min leave so easily this summer.
"Son Heung-min left Tottenham with so much to offer. £20 million was a very cheap price," Redknapp commented on BBC . "Sonny left after helping Spurs win the Europa League. Although LAFC wasn't Son Heung-min's first choice, he was persuaded to join, and now neither side in the deal has any regrets – except Tottenham."
"Clearly, MLS still has a quality gap compared to the Premier League. However, for LAFC, Son is the most expensive signing in MLS history, and he is proving his value far exceeds the investment," Redknapp assessed.
