Driver covers license plate, changes letter F to E, fined 23 million

During questioning, Mr. TQT admitted to using tape to cover the number 8 on his license plate and changing the letter F to E to avoid traffic fines.


On January 30th, social media posted an article accompanied by images of a Hyundai Accent car with license plate 30E-2X2.73, with part of the numbers on the license plate covered with tape.

Upon receiving the information, Team 4 of the Road Traffic Police Department of Hanoi Police quickly verified and identified the driver and requested him to come in for questioning.

Later that afternoon, Mr. TQT (born in 1988, residing in Dong Da District, Hanoi), the driver of the aforementioned vehicle, brought the vehicle to Traffic Police Team No. 4.

During questioning, Mr. TQT admitted to using tape to cover the number 8 on the license plate and changing the letter F to E to avoid traffic fines. The vehicle was identified as having license plate 30F-282.73.

Based on the verified documents, Road Traffic Police Team No. 4 issued an administrative violation report against Mr. T for the act of covering up letters and numbers on his license plate, and temporarily confiscated his driver's license for further processing.

The driver admitted to covering his license plate to avoid traffic fines.

According to Traffic Police Team No. 4, based on the regulations in Decree 168/2024, Mr. T's violation will result in a fine of 23 million VND and a deduction of 6 points from his driver's license.

Representatives from the Traffic Police Department emphasized that the act of covering or taping license plates not only violates traffic regulations but also affects the monitoring and handling of violations through the "cold penalty" system.

Traffic police will continue to intensify inspections and strictly handle cases of deliberate violations to ensure traffic order and safety, especially during the peak Tet holiday of the Year of the Snake.
