According to the Central Office for New Rural Development Coordination, by the end of 2024, the whole country had 15,590 OCOP products achieving 3 stars or higher (an increase of 4,534 products compared to 2023). The OCOP program has had a positive and strong impact on the development of production in rural areas, contributing to the transformation from small-scale agricultural production to production based on value chain linkages, building stable local raw material areas , creating more jobs, and promoting economic development, especially livelihoods in particularly disadvantaged areas.
Recognizing this trend, localities are currently developing plans to support producers in improving product quality and design to meet market demands. For example, in Vinh Phuc province, there are currently 178 products recognized as OCOP products with 3 stars or higher. Many OCOP products have developed well in the market and are favored by many consumers, such as: pasteurized sweetened fresh milk, Vinh Tuong black sticky rice yogurt, drinking yogurt from Vinh Thinh Dairy Processing and Livestock Joint Stock Company; king oyster mushrooms from Phung Gia Mushroom Company Limited; forest flower honey, tacumin, cordyceps and royal jelly from Tam Dao Bee Joint Stock Company...
To promote the development of OCOP products, the province has issued mechanisms and policies to support the development of traditional, key, and advantageous products in each locality. For the period 2021-2025, Vinh Phuc province plans to allocate 32.5 billion VND from the budget to directly support the program; of which, over 18 billion VND will be specifically for supporting participating entities. In addition, the province will support the establishment of 8-10 mobile product introduction and sales points in district centers, markets, supermarkets, apartment buildings, and tourist destinations; and organize participation in OCOP fairs in provinces and cities nationwide to expand markets and increase the competitiveness of local products.
Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative, located in Hop Chau town, Tam Dao district, currently owns 9 products that have achieved OCOP 3-star and 4-star standards, and 2 products that have received certification as typical rural industrial products of Vinh Phuc province. According to Nguyen Quoc Huy, Director of Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative, the cooperative always prioritizes product quality and customer benefits. The cooperative constantly innovates technology, develops raw material areas through supply chain linkages in many localities, and invests in designing appropriate labels to ensure products reach the market effectively.

Not only in Vinh Phuc province, but also in Tra Vinh province, the local government will continue to implement policies to support the development of OCOP products this year. Specifically, the province has selected 7 products to receive 100% funding for packaging and label design and product storytelling, with a maximum of 10 million VND per product; support for renting or building 2 new OCOP product retail stores with a support of 50 million VND per store; and support for purchasing machinery, equipment, and production lines for 7 rural businesses with OCOP-certified products, with a support of 50% of the cost, up to a maximum of 300 million VND per business.
According to Pham Thanh Tieng, Deputy Head of the Rural Development Sub-Department, through various policies, many establishments and businesses have boldly invested in and applied advanced machinery and equipment technology to production, helping to improve productivity and product quality; products are becoming increasingly diverse. This contributes to promoting the development of the OCOP program, increasing income for rural people, and helping OCOP products reach further into domestic and international markets.
Tra Vinh province currently has 393 OCOP products from 250 businesses that have achieved 3 stars or higher; including 3 products with 5 stars, 7 potential 5-star products, 46 products with 4 stars, and 337 products with 3 stars. By 2025, the province aims to have at least 20 more OCOP products recognized with 3 stars or higher. In 2024, Tra Vinh province disbursed a total of nearly 1.8 billion VND to support the development of OCOP products; including the construction of 2 OCOP product retail stores with a total investment of 100 million VND; and providing nearly 1.7 billion VND in support to 8 rural businesses with OCOP products to invest in machinery, equipment, and production lines.
Hopefully, with specific support policies from localities nationwide, the OCOP program will develop rapidly and sustainably. This will create favorable conditions for people in rural areas to develop their economy, improve their quality of life, and contribute positively to building increasingly prosperous and beautiful new rural areas…
