On the afternoon of September 18, receiving Vice President of the Cuban National Assembly Ana Mary Machado who visited Vietnam to attend the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai affirmed that Ms. Ana Mary Machado's visit demonstrates Cuba's support for Vietnam, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the special traditional friendship between the two countries.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai congratulated Cuba on successfully hosting the G77 and China Summit, with the participation of more than 100 international delegations; he said that Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha represented Vietnam at the Summit and is currently participating in many exciting multilateral and bilateral activities in Cuba.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai thanked Cuba for providing Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha's delegation with an effective program of activities and a warm and thoughtful reception.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai said that the visit of the Vice President of the Cuban National Assembly this time is even more important because it coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam (September 1963) and the 50th anniversary of the first visit of Leader Fidel Castro Ruz to Vietnam and to the Liberation Zone of South Vietnam (September 1973).
Expressing his delight at the fact that the solidarity and trust between Vietnam and Cuba has continued to develop strongly, becoming more and more substantial and effective, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the activities of dialogue and cooperation mechanisms have been maintained, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. Relations on all three channels of Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy have been deepened.
In addition, economic - trade - investment relations between the two countries have also gradually received attention. Despite many difficulties and challenges, bilateral turnover in 2022 reached 182 million USD. Vietnamese enterprises have also gradually expanded investment activities in Cuba, especially in areas where this country has strengths such as: Agriculture and food security, defense - security, culture, education, science - technology, etc.
In the spirit of being both comrades and brothers, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai hopes that Vietnam and Cuba will continue to promote cooperative relations, bringing the relationship between the two countries to increasingly develop in depth, practically and effectively.
Vice President of the Cuban National Assembly Ana Mary Machado thanked Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai for taking the time to receive the delegation; highly appreciated the achievements Vietnam has made in recent times, as well as the cooperation results between the two countries in various fields.
Vice President of the National Assembly Ana Mary Machado informed about the socio-economic situation of Cuba, and affirmed that Cuba will continue to strengthen and tighten relations with Vietnam in all fields; creating conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to cooperate, invest, produce and do business.
Sharing about the areas of strength, Vice President of the National Assembly Ana Mary Machado said that Cuba has a team of experienced experts, not only in the medical field but also in other fields... With its role, the Cuban National Assembly will make every effort to contribute to promoting the relationship between the two countries for the benefit of the people of the two brotherly countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai expressed his agreement with the assessment of Vice President of the Cuban National Assembly Ana Mary Machado on the bilateral relations in recent times, as well as the direction of cooperation in the coming time. At the same time, he discussed a number of proposals from the Vietnamese Government and hoped to receive support from the leaders of the Cuban Party, Government and National Assembly to strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation, commensurate with the potential and good political relations between the two countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that within the framework of common cooperation and within its capacity, the Vietnamese Government will make every effort to continuously foster and promote the traditional relationship between the two countries, especially cooperation in areas where both sides have strengths, for the legitimate interests of the Vietnamese and Cuban people.
The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that Cuba continue to take measures to support Vietnamese enterprises to expand investment, production and business, as well as have appropriate payment mechanisms, including projects implemented in the agricultural sector.
