Along with trade promotion activities and connecting supply and demand for OCOP products through fairs, exhibitions, and events honoring, promoting, and introducing OCOP products, the monitoring and management of OCOP product quality has also received attention from relevant agencies. This includes strengthening quality management and food safety; packaging design, labeling, and product design; intellectual property; and traceability along the value chain. As a result, Quang Ninh 's OCOP products have increasingly reached domestic and international markets.
In the first six months of 2024, the province organized two provincial-level OCOP fairs and 12 other fairs within the province (including seven product fairs and weeks); and participated in four domestic and international trade promotion programs. These fairs attracted over 120,000 visitors and shoppers; total sales revenue from all 22 fairs reached over 25 billion VND, of which revenue from the booths of localities within Quang Ninh province reached 12 billion VND.
The province currently has 23 points for introducing and selling OCOP products; all OCOP sales points have signs with the OCOP logo, shelves for displaying goods, and price lists. Besides introducing OCOP products within the province, these sales points also connect with and sell OCOP products from other provinces and cities nationwide; some points even have websites to introduce goods and sell through social media platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok.
The entire province has 393 OCOP products (3-5 stars) that meet standards and are listed on e-commerce platforms. Of these, Voso platform has 160 products (40%); Postmart e-commerce platform has 108 products (28%); and the Quang Ninh province OCOP e-commerce platform is currently showcasing 393 OCOP products (100%). Products selling well include: Ba Che golden flower tea, Binh Lieu vermicelli, Van Don oyster paste, etc. All OCOP products with 3-5 stars listed on e-commerce platforms accept cashless payment methods.
In terms of quality monitoring and management, during the first six months of the year, 71 products whose star ratings had expired and were participating in the OCOP program were no longer eligible for the OCOP certification; at the same time, a review of products whose star ratings were about to expire was ongoing. Localities and units were requested and guided to prepare dossiers for re-evaluation and re-classification of products whose star ratings had expired, in accordance with Decision No. 148/QD-TTg dated February 24, 2023, of the Prime Minister .
Local People's Committees continue to focus on improving the quality and food safety of raw materials for processing OCOP products, such as: 322.35 hectares of cultivated land certified under VietGAP (27 establishments); 1 aquaculture facility (Russian sturgeon, catfish) certified under VietGAP, covering 0.41 hectares; 1 organic farming facility with 329 hectares of cinnamon; 2 livestock farms certified under VietGAHP; 39 livestock households granted VietGAHP certificates and other equivalent certifications. The entire province has 60 cultivated areas granted area codes for domestic consumption and export; and 9 packaging facilities (a 23% increase compared to the same period). To date, 100% of OCOP products (excluding tourism service products) have been assigned barcodes or QR codes to 216 producers whose products have achieved 3-5 stars (including 53 enterprises, 89 cooperatives, and 74 household producers).
Synchronized solutions in trade promotion, monitoring, and quality management will contribute to improving the operational efficiency of cooperatives and small and medium-sized enterprises linked to the OCOP product value chain; changing outdated production practices, arousing and promoting the spirit of self-reliance, confidence, and creative entrepreneurship among all strata of the population; guiding people towards a market economy, and promoting production development in rural areas.
