Recently, the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) launched the Unitel Logistics brand in the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Viettel Group said Unitel Logistics is oriented to become an integrated logistics enterprise, applying comprehensive digital technology in supply chain management and operation. Key activities include logistics, warehousing, international transportation and cross-border e-commerce, meeting the growing transportation demand between Vietnam, Laos and neighboring countries.

Previously, Viettel Post Laos and Unitel, two member units of Viettel Group, signed a cooperation agreement on transportation services, forming a foundation for the domestic logistics chain in Laos. The two sides cooperated to build a transportation network, exploit warehouse systems, consolidation centers and cross-border transportation, aiming to provide integrated full-process logistics services on the Viettel technology platform, in which Viettel Post Laos is responsible for intermediate transportation (Middle Mile) and Unitel is responsible for the final stage (First & Last Mile).

In the first phase, Unitel Logistics invested in a synchronous infrastructure system nationwide, including three large-scale logistics centers in Oudomxay, Vientiane and Savannakhet; six bonded warehouses at border gates with Vietnam, Thailand and China; and more than 1,500 transaction points covering 18 provinces and cities, doubling the existing market size. The multimodal transport network deployed includes roads with 306 N+1 delivery routes, Laos - China, Laos - Thailand railways and aviation, directly connecting to key economic centers in the region.

Unitel Logistics aims to grow at an average of 32% per year in the 2025-2033 period, contributing to reducing Laos' logistics costs to 15% of GDP, improving competitiveness and attracting foreign investment. The project is expected to create more than 30,000 jobs, expand infrastructure to remote areas, and help all Lao people benefit from a modern, smart and sustainable logistics system.

Unitel Logistics is a testament to the strong cooperation between the two Governments and the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam and Laos, marking a step to expand cooperation from telecommunications and information technology to logistics, an essential infrastructure sector of the regional digital economy. When Vung Ang Port No. 3 comes into operation at the end of 2025, Unitel Logistics will become an important link in the Indochina trade infrastructure chain.
