Vietnamese Youth in Japan - Aspirations in the New Era

On August 9th, the first Vietnam Youth Forum in Japan was solemnly held at the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka, Japan, with the theme: "Vietnamese Youth in Japan - Aspirations in a New Era".

The forum was attended by nearly 200 delegates including young people, students, young entrepreneurs, intellectuals, and representatives of Vietnamese associations in many provinces and cities of Japan, as well as 10 youth delegates from Vietnam.

The program is organized by the General Association of Vietnamese People in the Kansai region in collaboration with the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in Japan (VYSA), under the patronage of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka and the Vietnam Youth Union.

The forum was attended by nearly 200 delegates including young people, students, young entrepreneurs, intellectuals, and representatives of Vietnamese associations in many provinces and cities of Japan, as well as 10 youth delegates from Vietnam.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Le Thuong, Head of the Organizing Committee and President of the General Association of Vietnamese People in the Kansai region, emphasized: "The forum is not only a meeting place, but also a place to inspire aspirations for advancement, affirm the identity and responsibility of Vietnamese youth in Japan in the process of international integration."

Attending the Forum, Ms. Nguyen Hai Yen, Head of Diplomacy , Economy, and Culture at the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka, affirmed the role of youth in promoting the national image. According to her, young people are cultural ambassadors and bridges of friendship between the people of Vietnam and Japan.

On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation attending the Forum, Comrade Nguyen Kim Quy - Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, Permanent Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union - expressed the desire to expand connections and long-term cooperation with Vietnamese youth abroad. “We believe that the young generation of overseas Vietnamese will be an important force in the journey of building a strong and prosperous country,” Comrade Nguyen Kim Quy stated.

The forum consisted of two main discussion sessions: Preserving the Vietnamese language and spreading culture among the younger generation; and Aspiration for integration - Vietnamese youth in the global era. Keynote speakers such as Professor Shimizu Masaaki (Kindai University), Master Le Thuong, and other outstanding young people shared many practical initiatives.

In addition, the forum also launched meaningful community activities: donating "Vietnamese Youth Bookcases" and 500 national flags to youth branches. These activities not only demonstrate love for the homeland but also contribute to nurturing national pride in young people living far from their country.

The event concluded with a session for interaction, networking, sharing thoughts, and proposing initiatives from youth groups – raising expectations for a united, responsible, and integrated network of Vietnamese youth in Japan.
