Báo Nhân dânBáo Nhân dân09/10/2024

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Huy Can, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Promotion of Learning, emphasized the importance of promoting learning and talent development, and building a learning society and a learning city within the city.

Accordingly, in recent times, the work of promoting learning and talent, building a learning society and a learning city has always received profound attention from the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and People's Committee, as well as effective coordination from the Department of Education and Training and learning promotion associations at all levels.

Ho Chi Minh City has been recognized by UNESCO as a member of the Global Learning Cities Network. This is not only an honor but also a challenge for the city to continue developing and improving its educational programs and policies.

At the seminar, delegates shared their views on key issues: the role of Party committees and local authorities in leading and directing the work of promoting learning and talent; the development and strengthening of the system of learning promotion associations from the city to the grassroots level; promoting the role of political -social organizations and professional associations; and the emulation movement "The whole country builds a learning society, promotes lifelong learning in the period 2023-2030".

Scenes from the seminar.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Cuc, Chairwoman of the District 4 Education Promotion Association in Ho Chi Minh City, discussed local education promotion activities. Accordingly, District 4 has built a strong education promotion association system, with 100% of wards and localities having education promotion branches.

District 4's educational support activities, such as fundraising walks, reading culture days, and piggy bank opening events, have been regularly organized, attracting widespread participation from the public. This not only encourages learning but also fosters community cohesion.

Ms. Le Thi Thuy Trang, Chairwoman of the Cu Chi District Association for the Promotion of Learning, highlighted the difficulties in implementing the work of promoting learning in the district.

One of the major challenges is the shortage of personnel and inadequate allowances for heads of local education promotion associations. Many people working in this field have to take on multiple other positions, leading to overload and an inability to perform their duties effectively.

Therefore, Ms. Le Thi Thuy Trang suggested that the city should have a mechanism to provide remuneration support for education promotion officers.

Mr. Le Hong Son, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, delivered a speech at the seminar.

At the seminar, delegates proposed many solutions to improve the effectiveness of educational promotion work, especially regarding the innovation of methods for disseminating information and implementing emulation movements related to educational promotion. The development of effective learning models, from families and clans to communities, was also discussed.

Mr. Le Hong Son, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, affirmed that promoting learning and talent is not only the responsibility of the learning promotion association but also requires the coordination of the entire political system.

At the same time, it is necessary to continue raising community awareness about the important role of lifelong learning. Only when everyone understands the importance of learning, and then translates that awareness into concrete actions, will the promotion of learning truly be effective.

Party committees and local authorities need to continue to closely monitor and implement appropriate policies to promote the learning encouragement movement.
