On the first official day of competition (December 10th) of the 33rd SEA Games, jujitsu contests featured six finals in the following weight categories: 62kg men, 72kg men, 52kg women, 63kg women, and mixed Duo Show (doubles). In the women's Duo Show, Phung Thi Hong Ngoc and Nguyen Ngoc Bich competed. In this event, both the gold and silver medals went to host nation Thailand.

Sharing their thoughts on the competition, Phung Thi Hong Ngoc and Nguyen Ngoc Bich said they always wanted to bring new, exciting events with a Vietnamese cultural flavor to the SEA Games 33. Today, Vietnamese athletes will compete in many other sports with a high chance of winning medals, so the achievements of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation will increase even further.
Also on the morning of December 10th, the Secretary General of the Cambodian Olympic Committee (NOCC), Vath Chamroeun, sent a letter to the Organizing Committee confirming the decision to withdraw from the Games. The reasons given were political tensions between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as requests from the families of the athletes.
In the letter, Mr. Chamroeun expressed his regret over the incident and thanked the Thai Olympic Committee (NOCT) and the SEA Games 33 Organizing Committee (THASOC) for the warm and thoughtful welcome extended to the Cambodian sports delegation in the spirit of fair play during the past few days.
At the 33rd SEA Games, Cambodia planned to participate in 21 sports. However, on November 26th, the National Commission for Cambodia (NOCC) sent a letter to the Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) and THASOC announcing the withdrawal of eight sports, including football, sepak takraw, petanque, wrestling, and martial arts such as judo, karate, pencak silat, and wushu. A day later, Cambodia further withdrew from volleyball. This forced the SEA Games organizing committee to readjust the men's football tournament by moving Singapore from Group C to Group A as a replacement.
