Another tissue bank has been licensed by the Ministry of Health.

On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, Dong Do Hospital (Hanoi) launched a Tissue Bank, with the entire process following international standards: receiving, screening, testing, preserving, tracing and supplying tissues for treatment.

The tissue bank helps hospitals deploy advanced transplant techniques, including corneal transplants, reducing patient wait times. The tissue bank also receives and stores amniotic membranes from healthy postpartum mothers, a source of tissue used to treat corneal surface injuries and many complex ophthalmic emergencies.

According to the Ministry of Health , the country currently has more than 300,000 people blind due to corneal disease, with an increase of about 15,000 cases each year. The transplant waiting list currently has up to 1,000 patients, while the source of qualified tissue is still limited.

Along with the application of high technology in ophthalmology, Dong Do Hospital treats many complicated cases in various specialties. In particular, in terms of reproductive support, more than 10,000 IVF babies have been born healthy.
