The indomitable spirit of the futsal girls.
The Vietnamese women's futsal team had a smooth start in the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship qualifiers with a 5-1 victory over Myanmar. In the second match, Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's team continued their winning streak by defeating Macau with an incredible score of 21-0. A perfect record after two matches and a goal difference of +25 gives Tran Thi Thuy Trang and her teammates an advantage; a draw against Taiwan in the final match would secure their place in the finals as group D winners.

In yesterday's crucial match against Taiwan (January 19th), the Vietnamese women's futsal team was surprisingly without their top scorer, Nguyen Phuong Anh. Phuong Anh was a key player in coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's tactics, contributing 5 goals in 2 matches (the highest in the team). As a result, the Vietnamese women's futsal team endured a difficult 40 minutes against Taiwan. The Vietnamese girls had to chase the score to earn a point against an opponent considered to be of equal strength.

Without Nguyen Phuong Anh, the Vietnamese women's futsal team lost an excellent attacking threat capable of endangering the opponent's goal. The Vietnamese team fell behind twice (1-0 and 2-1). It was only thanks to their tenacious fighting spirit and the sound tactics of coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang that the Vietnamese girls were able to secure a point with only about a minute left in the match. Le Thi Thanh Ngan (scoring in the 11th minute) and Bien Thi Hang (scoring in the 39th minute) were the two players who helped the Vietnamese women's futsal team avoid defeat in the qualifying round.
The Vietnamese and Taiwanese women's futsal teams both have a record of 2 wins and 1 draw, earning 7 points. However, Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's team ranks higher due to a better goal difference, 25 compared to 22.
The 2025 AFC Women's Futsal Championship is a platform to help the Vietnamese women's futsal team realize their dream of participating in the World Cup, as the top three teams in the tournament will qualify for the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup (the first of its kind).
The 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship qualifiers will feature 18 teams, divided into 4 groups (2 groups of 4 teams and 2 groups of 5 teams). The top two teams in each group, along with the best third-placed team, will advance. Twelve teams, including 9 teams that qualify from the preliminary rounds, along with host nation China and the two finalists from the previous tournament (Japan and Iran), will participate in the finals held in China from May 7-18, 2025.
Twelve teams are divided equally into three groups, playing in a single round-robin format to determine rankings. The top two teams in each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.
