When he learned that he got 29.25 points in the C00 block, only 0.25 points less than the top scorer in the C00 block nationwide, Nguyen Thanh Nhan was very surprised because he did not think he would achieve such a high result. Mixed with the feeling of surprise was pride and joy because his efforts and hard work had brought "sweet fruit" in the 2023 high school graduation exam.

Nhan said he wanted to study English pedagogy, so he had previously applied for admission based on his high school transcript at Can Tho University. As a result, Nhan passed his first choice, so he was not under too much pressure in the 2023 high school graduation exam. However, with his passion for history, literature and geography, Nhan was determined to study for block C00 to see how far he could go and what the results would be.

"I set a goal of trying to become valedictorian of the school, which was already fun, but the result exceeded my expectations so I'm very happy," Nhan shared.

In history, Nhan got a perfect score of 10. This achievement did not "fall from the sky" but 2 months before the high school graduation exam, Nhan started printing and solving more than 50 different exam questions, not including online exams. According to Nhan, this helped Nhan gain more in-depth knowledge to do application and advanced questions. For recognition questions, the most effective way, according to Nhan, is to read the textbook carefully, remember and pay attention to the smallest lines because the exam questions often ask questions in places that few people pay attention to.

Besides history, literature is Nhan's favorite subject. Nhan said: "The opportunity to participate in district and provincial literature competitions for excellent students gives me many skills to analyze topics, select appropriate words, know how to arrange arguments, and analyze ideas logically..."

Thanh Nhan (orange shirt) is considered by teachers and friends to be a hard-working person with good motivation to study.

Nhan said: "Outside of class time, I often research reputable literary sites on social networks to select and collect good ideas, and constantly update the latest events of newspapers to use as evidence for social commentary. For me, writing must be inspired. If I am constrained or under too much pressure, I will not be able to complete a good article."

Achieving high results in the 2023 high school graduation exam has given Nhan more motivation to study, and he will continue to make more efforts in the future.
