On the afternoon of October 30th, Master Le Phan Quoc, Deputy Head of the Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, shared information regarding the planned admission method based on scores from the specialized aptitude test organized by the university in 2025.
According to the planned schedule, the results of the specialized aptitude test will be one of the school's main admission methods in 2025. However, this admission method has undergone a significant change, shifting from a supplementary form within the combined high school academic results admission method to an independent admission method.
Previously, since 2022, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education applied an admission method using high school academic results combined with a specialized aptitude test. However, from 2025, the scores from the specialized aptitude test will become a separate admission method, no longer combined with academic transcripts as before.
This new admission method will lead to significant changes in the subject registration process for candidates. Previously, to apply using this method, candidates only needed to choose to take at least one subject from the offered exams. The admission score is determined by summing the score of the specialized aptitude test (main subject) multiplied by a factor of 2, plus the average score of the remaining two subjects in the combination over six semesters in high school. This total score is converted to a 30-point scale and includes priority points for eligible candidates and regions as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training, rounded to two decimal places.
However, in 2025, candidates will need to take a minimum of two subjects in the combination specified by the school for each major specifically for this admission method. The expected admission score will be the score of one main subject multiplied by a factor of 2 plus the score of the remaining subject in the combination.
The admission method based on scores from a specialized aptitude test is expected to be applied to more than 30 training programs and account for approximately 40-50% of the enrollment quota, depending on the program.
More universities are using scores from this exam for admissions.
From 2025 onwards, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will continue to organize a specialized aptitude test including exams in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, and English.
According to Master Nguyen Ngoc Trung, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, the expected exam results next year will not only serve the university's admissions process but also those of other universities. Specifically, the expected exam results will be used for admissions to universities in the teacher training sector, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, and Nguyen Tat Thanh University. In addition, the university is also working with several other universities that offer health science programs on this matter.
Previously, on October 25th, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade signed a cooperation agreement to jointly organize a specialized aptitude test for university admissions starting in 2025.
Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade will prepare the examination venue at its campus. Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will provide the procedures, techniques, and relevant legal documents to ensure the examination is conducted in accordance with regulations and laws. Both universities will share the examination results for their admissions process.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education announced sample exam questions for the specialized competency assessment exam to be applied from 2025, with many improvements in the structure of the exams. Specifically, 70-80% of the content is from the 12th grade curriculum, with the remainder from the 10th and 11th grade curricula.
