This morning, June 28th, candidates in Quang Tri province participating in the 2024 high school graduation exam completed the Natural Sciences (KHTN) or Social Sciences (KHXH) combined test in multiple-choice format, with a time limit of 150 minutes per test.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training , a combined subject exam consists of three subjects. The Natural Sciences exam includes Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; the Social Sciences exam includes History, Geography, and Civic Education. The overall score of the combined subject exam is used for determining high school graduation, while the scores of the individual subjects are used for university and college admissions.
In this morning's exam, 2,340 candidates registered for the Natural Science exam; 5,735 candidates registered for the Social Science exam. The average percentage of candidates taking the exam was 99.58%.

After completing the 150-minute combined subject exam, the candidates left in high spirits. Most of them felt that the Natural Sciences combined subject exam effectively differentiated students' abilities, while the Social Sciences combined subject exam was slightly more difficult. The invigilation process was rigorous, and the transition between subjects was quick and smooth. Although somewhat tired, the students didn't feel overly pressured by having to take consecutive exams.
In the Natural Sciences subject group, candidate Ho Thi Ly Na, a student from the Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School, assessed the exam as "easier" than the previous Math exam, but also included some high-level application questions. "Of the three subjects, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, I think Physics was the most difficult. From question 33 onwards, the exam was relatively long. Based on my work, I estimate I scored around 7 points in each subject," Ly Na said. According to this candidate, many other candidates taking the Natural Sciences subject group also performed very well.

Candidate Le Thi Yen Nhi, a student from Quang Tri College of Education, said: “I took the Social Sciences subject combination exam. In my opinion, the History exam this morning was quite difficult. I did well on the Geography and Civic Education exams; the questions covered the knowledge I had thoroughly reviewed.”
Ngo Thi Thu Trang, a 12th-grade student from Cua Tung High School, commented that this year's Social Sciences combined exam was quite suitable. Students with average academic ability could achieve around 6-7 points, but to achieve higher scores, they needed broad knowledge and thorough preparation. She particularly considered the History exam the most difficult of the three combined subjects. Students without a solid understanding of the material could only complete about half of the exam. Regarding Geography, she found it easier to score points because many questions allowed the use of an atlas. Similarly, she predicted she would achieve the highest score in Civic Education, as the Civic Education exam did not present as many difficult scenarios as in previous years.
This afternoon, candidates will take the final exam, English, with a 60-minute test duration in multiple-choice format.
