On December 28th, temperatures in the North continued to rise, maintaining warm and sunny weather during the day, but experiencing deep cold at night and in the early morning. However, the appearance of fog, coupled with large temperature differences between day and night, led to a decline in air quality.
In Hanoi , air pollution has recurred, especially in the early morning. The AQI index in many areas is at a harmful level, sometimes exceeding 200 units (a level considered very harmful to human health).
The reason is that the cold air mass is weakening, accompanied by increased humidity and a temperature inversion, making it difficult for pollutants to disperse. This situation could last for several more days.

Regarding the weather forecast for the New Year's Day holiday in 2024 (December 30, 2023 - January 1, 2024), the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting stated that the Northern and North Central regions of Vietnam may experience scattered rain, but the amount will be insignificant.
The prevailing weather is light fog in the early morning, with sunshine around midday and in the afternoon.
Currently, the North is still cold at night and in the early morning, with the lowest temperatures in the lowlands ranging from 14-17 degrees Celsius, and in mountainous areas from 11-14 degrees Celsius, with some places below 10 degrees Celsius. People going out in the evening should prepare warm clothing. During the day, the highest temperature is 24-26 degrees Celsius, with warm sunshine.
Notably, during the three-day New Year's holiday, the area from Quang Binh to Da Nang may experience showers with a probability of 60-65%.
From Khanh Hoa province southward to the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam, the weather is sunny and dry, favorable for people to enjoy the holiday. However, hot and humid conditions may occur in many areas as temperatures rise to 30-33 degrees Celsius.
