Letter from President Luong Cuong on the occasion of the opening of the 2025-2026 school year

On the occasion of the opening of the 2025-2026 school year, amidst the joyful atmosphere of the whole country celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day on September 2nd, and the 80th anniversary of the Education sector's tradition, President Luong Cuong sent a letter to the entire sector. " Dear teachers, administrators, staff in the education sector, students, trainees, and parents !"

On the occasion of the opening of the 2025 - 2026 school year, in the joy and pride of the whole country celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution, the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the 80th anniversary of the tradition of the Education sector, I cordially send to generations of teachers, administrators, workers working in the Education sector through the periods, along with students, pupils, students and parents my warmest, most intimate feelings and best wishes.

Eighty years ago, in that historic autumn, in a letter to students on the first day of school after Vietnam had just gained independence, President Ho Chi Minh expressed his boundless love and unwavering belief that the young generation of Vietnam would lead the country to glory, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world's leading nations. That sacred wish of his still resonates, reminding students to continuously study and train themselves to be worthy of the sacrifices and contributions of previous generations, and to contribute to the cause of protecting, building, and developing the country.

During the past academic year, the education sector proactively and actively advised, proposed, and perfected many important mechanisms, policies, and legal documents aimed at innovating and developing education and training in the new phase; the entire sector completed the implementation of the new general education program from grade 1 to grade 12, affirming the initial success of the general education reform process. The quality of education at all levels has improved; Vietnamese students continue to achieve high results in international and regional Olympic competitions, contributing to raising the position of our country's education on the international stage. These are commendable efforts of the education sector, teachers, and students nationwide, and continue to spread the confidence and support of society for the cause of innovation and development of education and training in the country.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I warmly congratulate and commend the very proud achievements that the education sector has attained in the 2024-2025 school year.

The 2025-2026 academic year is the first year taking place in the new context as the whole country completes the reorganization of administrative units, implements the two-tiered local government model, and is also the first year of implementing Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development. I hope the education sector will focus on effectively implementing the theme of the academic year: " Discipline - Creativity - Breakthrough - Development ", continuing to aim towards the goal of comprehensively forming and developing individuals in terms of knowledge, ethics, skills, character, and aspirations, meeting the requirements of rapid and sustainable development of the country in the new era of development - the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.

As the new school year approaches, I am confident that students and trainees will continue to nurture their dreams, constantly learn and train, and become patriotic, responsible, creative, compassionate citizens with great aspirations to build an increasingly prosperous and happy country.

I hope that teachers, administrators, and workers in the education sector will always maintain the flame of passion and love for the profession, constantly innovate, create, and build a happy learning environment for students.

I hope that parents, with love and responsibility, will continue to work alongside the school and society to care for the future generation.

I propose that the Central Committees, ministries, branches, Party committees and authorities at all levels pay more attention to the education cause with practical decisions so that teachers and students can be taught, studied and trained in the best environment.

Wishing all teachers, administrators, education workers, and students good health, happiness, and many achievements in the new school year, so that the Vietnamese education sector can make a significant contribution to bringing the country "on par with the great powers of the world" as desired by our beloved President Ho Chi Minh.
