An Nhon town is considered the largest apricot blossom capital in Central Vietnam. Thousands of households cultivate apricot blossoms, covering an area of approximately 145 hectares. According to gardeners, pruning the leaves of apricot blossom trees is considered a crucial step, requiring considerable experience and careful planning. Apricot blossom trees pruned at this time are primarily for sale in the North. This is because the weather in the northern provinces is colder, so pruning must be done earlier. Photo: Truong Dinh |
“The apricot blossom tree is mainly dependent on the weather. If you prune the leaves early and the weather is warm and sunny, all the flowers will bloom. But if it's cold, the flowers won't bloom, rendering the tree useless,” said 65-year-old Nguyen Van Sanh from Trung Dinh village. Currently, the area planted with apricot blossom trees has increased significantly, while the market for apricot blossom trees is saturated, and purchasing power is no longer as strong as before. People now prefer bonsai apricot blossom trees. Photo: Truong Dinh |

According to the gardeners, the current weather is relatively favorable; although there is light rain, the warm weather is helping the apricot blossom trees thrive and produce many buds. Photo: Truong Dinh |
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thi, 56 years old, from Trung Dinh village, said that not many people come to see the apricot blossoms at this time; usually, it's at the beginning of next month. Currently, some people do come to see the apricot blossoms, but mostly they are just "checking in" and looking beforehand. Photo: Truong Dinh |
Taking advantage of the off-season, people are working as hired laborers to earn extra income for Tet (Lunar New Year) preparations. Currently, a day's work earns 180,000 - 200,000 VND. Photo: Truong Dinh |
