The Prime Minister asked THACO to research and produce high-speed railway cars.

On the morning of February 8th, during his working visit to Quang Nam province , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited THACO factories, HS Hyosung Group, Chu Lai seaport and airport.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the factories of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO) in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.

THACO is one of the largest private enterprises in Vietnam, operating in multiple sectors, including automotive, agriculture, mechanical engineering and supporting industries, investment-construction, trade-services, and logistics.

In the automotive sector alone, in 2024 THACO sold over 91,000 vehicles, accounting for more than 32% of the domestic automotive market share, and exported over 1,100 vehicles with revenue exceeding $12.6 million.

The plan for 2025 is to complete the investment, construction, and operation of a new automotive R&D center, focusing intensively on product research and development.

The sales target for automobiles is over 100,000 vehicles, focusing on high-value products to achieve revenue of 80,847 billion VND, and exporting over 4,000 vehicles to generate more than 35 million USD in revenue.

Mr. Tran Ba ​​Duong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of THACO, pledged to strive to implement strategic projects to form a new generation multi-industry industrial ecosystem of THACO in Chu Lai, Quang Nam, based on industrial management, green, smart, modern, and sustainable development.

THACO also recently inaugurated a 50,000-ton dedicated container terminal at Chu Lai International Port, with a total investment of 1,590 billion VND, along with a series of factories.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged, commended, and highly appreciated the activities and achievements of THACO.

With higher quality products, a greater localization rate, more affordable prices, increased digitalization and automation, more jobs are created, significant contributions are made to the budget, and social responsibility is promoted.

The Prime Minister urged THACO to take the lead in innovation, accelerate and break through in growth, develop comprehensively and sustainably, and promote digital transformation, green transformation, and the creative economy.

Regarding THACO's proposals, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Transport to immediately resolve the procedures related to the investment project for the Cua Lo channel to allow 50,000-ton vessels to enter Chu Lai port, ensuring that it is substantive and effective.

The Prime Minister requested THACO to participate in research, technology transfer, and production of high-speed railway carriages, and to move towards research, technology transfer, and locomotive production. He expressed confidence that THACO will achieve better results in 2025 than in 2024 in all aspects.

Earlier, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also visited the HS Hyosung factory, a diversified conglomerate that is among the top 30 largest economic groups in South Korea.

Leading in research, development, and production of advanced materials (automotive tire fibers, high-tech fibers, carbon fibers), customer service for the luxury automotive segment, global logistics and supply chain services, AI research, and big data centers.

The Prime Minister congratulated HS Hyosung on the results achieved in production and business in Quang Nam and its successful development in Vietnam, and requested the province to support and create the best conditions for the group to operate smoothly as committed.

On the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Chu Lai International Seaport and Chu Lai Airport.

Currently, the province has completed the planning and is awaiting the central government's policy on the socialization of investment and operation of the airport to further finalize the investment, operation, and management plan for Chu Lai airport infrastructure under the PPP model.

It is understood that SOVICO Group and VietJet Aviation Joint Stock Company have proposed investing in Chu Lai International Airport.

Earlier that morning, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also laid flowers and offered incense at the Monument to the Heroic Vietnamese Mother (Tam Ky City), the Martyrs' Cemetery of Quang Nam province, and the memorial plaque commemorating martyrs from Thanh Hoa province.
