During the meeting, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, both sides expressed their delight that the special traditional friendship, comprehensive support, and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba are continuously being strengthened, promoted, and developed extensively.
The Prime Minister met with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
The Prime Minister warmly congratulated Cuba on successfully hosting the G77 Summit on Climate Change within the framework of COP28. The Party, State, Government, National Assembly , and people of Vietnam always value, preserve, and are determined to further deepen the traditional relationship of solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, standing side-by-side in supporting the just revolutionary cause of the Cuban people.
The Head of Government affirmed that Vietnam's consistent stance is to oppose unilateral embargo measures against Cuba. At the same time, he respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vo Van Thuong to Mr. Miguel Díaz-Canel and the invitation to Cuban Party and State leaders to visit Vietnam.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel sincerely thanked the Government and people of Vietnam for their valuable support in helping Cuba overcome difficulties in socio-economic development.
Mr. Miguel Díaz-Canel assessed the Cuba-Vietnam relationship as a beautiful symbol, meticulously nurtured by President Fidel Castro, President Ho Chi Minh, and successive generations of leaders from both countries over many periods. He thanked the leaders of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam for the thoughtful reception extended to the visit of Cuban National Assembly President Esteban Lazo in September, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated zone in Quang Tri.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen coordination of positions and exchange contacts at multilateral forums, a fine tradition between the two countries. At the same time, they will cooperate more closely to promote economic, investment, and trade cooperation, including agricultural cooperation, to ensure food security.
