Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs - the first female Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, shared that Vietnamese female diplomats are honored to be in the ranks of the diplomatic generation, the Ho Chi Minh diplomatic era.

Over the past 80 years, many generations of Vietnamese female diplomats have made great strides, actively contributing to the struggle for national liberation, national reunification, and the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland.

Vietnamese diplomacy is proud of the female diplomats who have gone down in national history, especially Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh - the first female Foreign Minister, Head of the negotiating delegation at the Paris Conference, the next generations such as Ms. Ho The Lan - the first female spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Phan Thi Phuc - the first female Secretary General of UNESCO of Vietnam, Ambassadors Nguyen Thi Hoi, Nguyen Thi Huyen, Phan Thuy Thanh, Nguyen Phuong Nga, Nguyen Nguyet Nga...who devoted their whole lives to the cause of foreign affairs, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Ms. Pauline Tamesis, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, assessed that Vietnam is one of the 10 countries that best implement goal number 5 on promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls in the United Nations' sustainable development goals.

Vietnam is one of the leading countries in terms of the percentage of women participating in peacekeeping activities, at 16%. The percentage of female deputies in the 15th National Assembly of Vietnam is 30%, higher than the world and regional average.

Vietnam is undergoing major reforms in its history, and it is important to ensure women are fully involved in the restructuring of government.

Ms. Pauline Tamesis hopes that more women will be elected to the 34 new provinces and cities. With such leadership roles, the role of Vietnamese women in diplomacy will be further demonstrated, and the participation of Vietnamese women at all levels of policy making will help Vietnam take firm steps towards a sustainable future.

Ambassador Cristina Romila - the first female Romanian Ambassador appointed to Vietnam shared that Vietnam is a wonderful country, the people welcome female diplomats and international female experts in all fields.

After 4 years of working, she is filled with unforgettable memories and sincerity towards Vietnam. Considering Vietnam as her second homeland, the Romanian Ambassador shared that Vietnam's friendliness and openness have inspired her to have a stronger voice in promoting bilateral relations between Vietnam and Romania.

In a warm and sincere atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that this is an occasion to honor the important contributions of female officials in the diplomatic sector, while continuing to affirm Vietnam's strong commitment to promoting gender equality and enhancing women's participation in building a world of peace, cooperation and sustainable development.

In Vietnamese culture, in the family, women play the most important and pivotal role. Vietnamese women are always respected and given equal access to all jobs in society.

The Prime Minister affirmed that in the process of fighting, building and defending the country, there are important sacrifices, efforts, contributions and dedication of Vietnamese women and female diplomats.

The Prime Minister expressed his pride that Vietnam's history has seen pioneering female diplomats, especially former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh - Vietnam's first female Foreign Minister and Head of the negotiating delegation at the Paris Conference. She has become a representative of female diplomatic intelligence, representing the Vietnamese people's aspiration for peace.

At the age of 98, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh talked with us about her time in revolutionary activities, her views on the future of the country and the young generation.

The Prime Minister hopes that female diplomats will continue to contribute to their country and to the world's diplomatic career.
