Many socio-economic indicators have high growth.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung affirmed: In 2024, thoroughly grasping the theme "Discipline, responsibility, proactiveness, timely innovation, sustainable efficiency" of the Government , the Provincial People's Committee has focused on directing and operating, promptly issuing action programs, key work programs to deploy socio-economic development tasks, ensuring national defense and security; directing to accelerate the implementation progress and disbursement of public investment capital plans in order to strive to achieve the highest level of socio-economic goals in 2024.

In the first quarter of 2024, the province's economy continued to recover and develop. The total product in the area is estimated to increase by 4.84% over the same period last year, of which agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 4.41%, industry and construction increased by 4.6%, and services increased by 5.16%. In terms of economic structure, agriculture, forestry and fishery accounted for 14.83%; industry and construction accounted for 32.66%; services accounted for 48.34%; product taxes minus product subsidies accounted for 4.17% (the corresponding structure in the first quarter of 2023 was 15.11%; 33.12%; 47.53%; 4.24%).

Regarding agricultural production, the rice cultivation area is 25,143 hectares. Livestock development is stable, diseases on livestock and poultry are controlled; the total output of fresh meat for slaughter in 3 months is estimated at more than 16,000 tons, up nearly 4% over the same period. Favorable weather, fishermen increased their offshore fishing, the total aquatic product output in the first quarter is estimated at more than 8,800 tons, up 23.2% over the same period last year. Compared to the same period in 2023, the industrial production index in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 1.56%; total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated to increase by 9.6%; the consumer price index increased by 3.36%.

Import-export turnover through the province in the first three months of the year reached nearly 197 million USD, up 35.03% over the same period last year; of which export turnover reached 71.9 million USD, up 51.77%; import turnover reached 125.1 million USD, up 26.99%.

Education and training have positive changes and many bright spots. The rate of excellent students winning prizes in the 9th grade cultural excellent student exam in the 2023-2024 school year reached 60.98%; the national excellent student exam for 12th grade in the 2023-2024 school year had 44 students winning prizes, reaching a rate of 61.1%. There were 2/2 projects participating in the National Science and Technology Competition, winning 1 First prize and 1 Third prize, especially 1 project was selected by the Ministry of Education and Training to participate in the International Science and Technology Competition in the United States. The work of protecting people's health, preventing epidemics, and food hygiene and safety is guaranteed.

Quang Tri province's PAPI ranking in 2023 has improved significantly, up 11 places compared to 2022. Strong positive changes in PAPI component indicators related to people's participation at the grassroots level increased by 13 places, public administrative procedures increased by 16 places and there has been a shift in e-governance, up 8 places.

In particular, the province has focused on drastically implementing key projects and works, focusing on accelerating the progress of site clearance for the Cam Lo - Van Ninh expressway; organizing the launching ceremony for the construction of the My Thuy Port Area project; organizing a workshop on the Lao Bao - Densavan Cross-Border Economic and Trade Zone Project; working with central ministries, branches and localities to prepare for the Festival for Peace...

To prepare for the 24th session of the 8th Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee has developed and commented on 20 contents to be submitted to the session. The session agreed to submit 20 draft resolutions. Of which, there are 9 draft resolutions on the field of public investment, including adjusting the medium-term public investment plan from local budget sources; extending the implementation period of the 2023 public investment plan to 2024; reducing the estimated investment capital from land use revenue managed by the province; approving the investment policy for 5 projects to renovate historical and cultural relics to serve the first Festival for Peace...

Resolutions on urban development include the urban development program of Quang Tri province to 2030, with a vision to 2050; classification of Dong Ha urban area to meet the standards of a type II urban area; Dong Ha urban development program to 2045; 3 draft resolutions on the field of natural resources, environment and conversion of forest use purposes, conversion of forest types to implement socio-economic development investment projects in the province, including: land recovery policy, permission to convert the use purpose of rice-growing land, protective forest land, special-use forest land to implement socio-economic development projects; policy to convert forest use purposes, conversion of forest types to implement socio-economic development investment projects in the province; financial mechanism for building infrastructure to develop land funds and clear land, creating clean land funds in Quang Tri province.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung praised the spirit of overcoming difficulties, sense of responsibility and efforts of all levels, sectors, business community and people in the whole province who joined hands and contributed to creating very encouraging results in socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the first 3 months of 2024.

In particular, the province has done a good job of taking care of the people during Tet, organizing many cultural and sports activities, activities to celebrate the Party and celebrate Spring, creating an exciting, warm, joyful and absolutely safe atmosphere. Fully implementing social security policies for the beneficiaries and giving away 150,307 gifts, with a total cost of more than 73.1 billion VND.

Regarding the tasks in the second quarter of 2024, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung requested departments and branches to proactively focus on implementing well the tasks set out by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in Program No. 78-CTr/TU dated December 28, 2023 of the Provincial Party Committee and resolutions of the Provincial People's Council, and action programs of the Provincial People's Committee.
