Widespread thunderstorms are expected in Northern Vietnam from the afternoon of August 14th, along with a 10-day weather forecast for the Hanoi area.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a bulletin forecasting widespread thunderstorms, localized heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind in Northern Vietnam and North Central Vietnam, along with a 10-day weather forecast for the Hanoi area.

Accordingly, as of today (August 14th), there are localized showers and thunderstorms in the Northern region and in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces.

Forecasts indicate that on the afternoon and night of August 14th, the Northern region, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An will experience showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rainfall of 20-40mm, and in some places over 80mm.

During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rainfall may cause flooding in low-lying areas and pose a risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous regions.

The meteorological agency also forecasts that on August 14-15, the area from Quang Tri to Ninh Thuan will experience hot and intensely hot weather with maximum temperatures commonly ranging from 35-37 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 37 degrees Celsius in some places. The lowest relative humidity will commonly be 50-60%. This heatwave in Central Vietnam is likely to last until around August 18-19.

Today, August 14th, Hanoi will be cloudy with intermittent sunshine during the day, and occasional showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening; there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during the thunderstorms. Temperatures will fluctuate, ranging from a low of 25-27 degrees Celsius to a high of 33-35 degrees Celsius.

On August 15-16, the capital city will be cloudy with showers and thunderstorms, with occasional sunshine during the day. The highest temperature will be 34 degrees Celsius.

On August 17th, Hanoi experienced hot and sunny weather. Then, from August 18th onwards, the capital city of Hanoi will experience cloudy weather with rain for the rest of the week.
