"From the preliminary examination at the scene, the victims were poisoned," said Major General Theeradej Thumsuthee, investigation commander at the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Department.

He added that there were signs that all six had consumed coffee or tea before they died. Theeradej Thumsuthee said a preliminary autopsy did not find any injuries and a tour guide was being questioned.

Bangkok police commissioner Lieutenant General Thiti Saengsawang confirmed there were no signs of a fight and the victims were scheduled to check out on July 16.

Matichon Online (Thailand) reported that police are searching for two Vietnamese citizens believed to be involved.

Authorities also said the victims did not check in at the same time. According to the hotel, on July 13, there was 1 check-in and on July 14, there was 1 check-in, with a total of only 5 guests checking in to 5 rooms, including 4 rooms on the 7th floor and 1 room on the 5th floor.

The victims checked out of four rooms on the 7th floor at noon on July 15, so all their luggage was gathered in one room on the 5th floor, where the bodies were found.

According to Matichon Online, 7 people booked the room and 5 people checked in, but 6 bodies were discovered.

The victims were believed to have died after 1:53 p.m. on July 16, when the food was ordered. However, six Thai dishes remained uneaten. Authorities discovered that drinks in five teacups placed on the counter and one on the dining table may have been used.

It is understood that when hotel staff arrived at the scene, the door was locked from the inside and could not be opened. This person entered the room through the back door and discovered the bodies.

The incident at the luxury Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel in Bangkok comes as Thailand seeks to boost its tourism sector, a key driver of Southeast Asia's second-largest economy .

" The prime minister has ordered all agencies to take urgent action to avoid affecting tourism," the Thai government said in a statement.
