Seminar "For the petroleum market to develop stably, transparently and effectively"

Establishing a petroleum trading floor: Is the problem really easy? Ministry of Industry and Trade meets with key traders about the petroleum supply situation in 2024

The seminar was attended by National Assembly Delegate Hoang Van Cuong - Member of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee; Deputy Director of the Price Management Department ( Ministry of Finance ) Pham Van Binh; Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Association Bui Ngoc Bao; General Director of Bamboo Airways Luong Hoai Nam; Economic expert Ngo Tri Long to analyze, comment, evaluate, interpret and discuss solutions for the petroleum market to develop stably, transparently and effectively.

Petroleum is a commodity with a particularly important role and position, of strategic significance in ensuring stability and maintaining major balances of the economy , especially ensuring national energy security, serving socio-economic development, serving people and businesses.

Fully aware of the importance of petroleum to socio-economic development, the Government and the Prime Minister have always paid close attention and given strong direction to this strategic commodity, including issuing Decree No. 83/2014/ND-CP on petroleum trading; Decrees amending and supplementing Decree 83/2014/ND-CP and many other important directives, thereby creating a fundamental legal environment for the stable and sustainable development of the Vietnamese petroleum market.

However, besides the positive results achieved, currently, the petroleum market still has shortcomings, limitations, inadequacies, and "bottlenecks" that require urgent solutions, especially amending and supplementing mechanisms and policies to suit the context and practical situation.

Currently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is coordinating with ministries, branches and functional agencies, including the Ministry of Finance, to draft a new Decree on petroleum trading to replace Decree 83/2014/ND-CP and the Decrees amending and supplementing Decree 83 that were previously issued to supplement and perfect policy mechanisms for the stable and effective development of the petroleum market.
