Theater founder's death anniversary, artists share with people in storm-hit areas

The main death anniversary of the founder, August 12th of the lunar calendar, has been recognized by the State as Vietnam Theater Day.

The Theatre Ancestral Temple in Co Bac is considered the communal ancestral temple for all theatre artists in Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, during the death anniversary season, artists often come here to burn incense before going to other theatres and stages.

On the morning of October 2, many artists were present early such as artists Le Thien, Manh Dung, Thanh Dau, Thanh Vy, Thanh Hien, Bao Quoc, Thanh Loc, Bao Tri, Kim Tuyet, Trinh Kim Chi, Tuyet Thu, Phuong Loan, Vu Luan, Hoang Map...

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Trinh Kim Chi emphasized that the death anniversary is an occasion for artists to gather and offer incense and flowers to pay tribute to their ancestors, the predecessors who laid the foundation for the development of today's theater.

"We also pray to our ancestors to bless the audience to always love and consider the stage as a sanctuary of life. Artists love each other and unite to contribute valuable works to art and the public," said Ms. Chi.

At the same time, Ms. Chi informed that all the offerings during the anniversary at Co Bac Theater's ancestral temple will be sent to help people affected by storm Bualoi.

Sacred season of theater ancestors' death anniversary

Every year when artist Bao Quoc and his wife return to Vietnam, they spend 3 days visiting theaters and stages to burn incense and meet and chat with colleagues.

Confiding in Tuoi Tre Online , he said he had to stop by the Theater Ancestral Temple to burn incense first before going wherever he wanted.

Artist Le Thien shared that every season of the death anniversary of the ancestors, elderly artists like her feel that they are still healthy, still able to contribute, still able to go to the places where the ancestors are commemorated to burn incense, and meet friends and colleagues, which brings her great happiness.

"Every time this day comes, we artists are excited, waiting, and excited. It feels very sacred. We just calm down, remember our ancestors, and think about our profession," artist Le Thien said emotionally.

After the ancestor worship ceremony at Co Bac Ancestral Temple, on October 2, Idecaf, Truong Hung Minh, and Ho Chi Minh City Art Center stages also held ancestor worship ceremonies.
