General Secretary and President To Lam meets with President of Mauritania in Paris

At the meeting with General Secretary and President To Lam, the President of Mauritania assessed Vietnam as a successful example for African countries, believing that Vietnam will be an active bridge for AU-ASEAN cooperation.

Continue activities within the framework Francophone Summit At the 19th meeting in Paris, France, on the afternoon of October 5, local time, General Secretary and President To Lam met with Mauritania President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, incumbent Chairman of the African Union (AU).

At the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam appreciated the increasingly good development of the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries; Vietnam always remembers the valuable support and assistance that the Government and people of Mauritania gave Vietnam in the struggle for national independence.

The Party General Secretary and President also highly appreciated Mauritania's role as Chair of the AU and thanked the AU for creating conditions for Vietnam to complete procedures to become an official observer of the AU in December 2023.

President Ghazouani congratulated Vietnam on its achievements so far, assessed Vietnam as a successful example for African countries, including Mauritania, and believed that Vietnam will be an active bridge for AU-ASEAN cooperation.

Discussing orientations to promote Vietnam-Mauritania relations, the two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels and channels, contributing to further deepening political trust and creating new momentum for bilateral cooperation in the coming time.

On this occasion, the General Secretary and President invited the President of Mauritania to visit Vietnam at a suitable time.
