General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: Learning and following Uncle Ho is a cultural need

On the morning of November 2, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had a cordial meeting with the National Delegation of Exemplary Delegates in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle in 2023.

Also attending were: Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang; Central Party Secretaries: Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien, Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Chief of the Central Party Office Le Minh Hung... and 67 outstanding individuals nationwide in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style in 2023.

These are exemplary collectives and individuals representing effective models and innovative approaches in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style, yielding practical results in various fields: economy, culture, society, national defense, security, foreign affairs, social welfare, and prevention and control of social evils.

Through the report of the Central Propaganda Department and the opinions of a number of delegates, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was pleased to see that in the past 5 years, every year the Central Propaganda Department has launched an emulation movement and organized voting and honoring of typical collectives and individuals in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in the capital city of Hanoi.

In the previous 4 years, 102 typical delegates were honored. In 2023 alone, there were 67 typical representatives. The typical representatives come from all over the country, operating in different sectors, fields, and localities, but they all have one thing in common: they all have made great efforts and have achieved many outstanding achievements in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style; always closely united, persistently striving, overcoming all difficulties, upholding the spirit of innovation, creativity, daring to think, daring to speak, daring to do, and daring to take responsibility for the common good.

More than anyone else, the typical collectives and individuals honored and rewarded in 2023 are all beautiful flowers in the beautiful flower garden, filled with the fragrant colors of the heroic Vietnamese people, the glorious Party and the great Uncle Ho.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, warmly congratulating, praising and thanking the typical examples of their dedication, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated that during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh left our Party, our nation and our people an extremely noble legacy, which is: Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, style and the Ho Chi Minh era.

Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style are a priceless revolutionary spiritual treasure that we - every generation of Vietnamese people today and tomorrow - must always strive to learn and follow, forever preserve and promote; consider it the crystallization of noble spiritual values, becoming the standard for building and reviving culture, building Vietnamese people in the new era.

For nearly 20 years, since 2006, our Party has pursued a widespread campaign throughout the Party, the people, and the armed forces to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh's teachings. Through the practical experience of reform, our understanding of Ho Chi Minh's thought and legacy has become increasingly profound and comprehensive.

Ho Chi Minh's thought, ethics, and style constitute a complete and integrated system.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized: “We see in Uncle Ho not only a shining example of morality and style, but also the complete and comprehensive system of values, vitality, and significance of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style. We not only strive to study and improve our understanding of his life and career, but also diligently follow his guidance and admonitions in a simple, practical, and effective manner. He frequently reminded us that theory must be linked to practice, learning must go hand in hand with doing, and speaking must go hand in hand with doing; consistency between words and deeds, thought and action. Following his guidance, we must link learning with doing; learning is the prerequisite and condition; doing means practicing and applying creatively, actively, and consciously. At the same time, we must promote the role and responsibility of setting an example for cadres and Party members, especially leaders, thereby encouraging all levels.” The people are striving to compete in building and developing the country, creating genuine and sustainable progress and development."

Learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's example, setting an example in studying and emulating his thoughts, ethics, and style, is a crucial content, a primary task, and a fundamental method for creating widespread influence and social impact, bringing his thoughts, ethics, and style into life. This is also a major policy of the Party, reaffirmed in Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW, dated May 18, 2021, of the Politburo of the 13th Party Congress.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that studying and following, along with the responsibility of setting an example for cadres and party members in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, is a strategic, fundamental and long-term policy to build and rectify our Party to be truly clean and strong, worthy of being the leader and loyal servant of the people.

Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, each cadre and party member will become more correct and healthy in their perception and action; strive to improve revolutionary ethics, have the courage to fight, self-criticize, and wipe out individualism; be diligent, thrifty, honest, impartial and selfless; directly contribute to building a clean and strong Party and political system in all aspects.

Enhance responsibility for the people, especially the responsibility of setting an example of the leaders, so that our Party is truly "ethical and civilized"; our State is truly "a State of the people, by the people, for the people".

The Fatherland Front and mass organizations truly serve as environments for democracy, unity, and mass mobilization, providing support and encouragement for the people to uphold their role as masters, exercise their democratic rights, and exercise genuine self-governance. This is the profound purpose and the crucial strategic significance of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings.

Learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's example is a cultural necessity.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong noted that studying and following Uncle Ho needs to be constantly renewed to become an intrinsic need of each person and the whole society; a cultural need full of humanity and creativity in the way of organizing education and propaganda, attractive enough to attract, appeal, and inspire each person, each family, each organization, group, agency, unit, at all levels, sectors, from the central to local and grassroots levels; from within the country to abroad, including the Vietnamese community studying, working, and living abroad.

For many years now, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle has been a lasting cultural and spiritual need, a beautiful cultural value and lifestyle of our entire Party, people and army.

Going beyond the scale of a campaign in 2006, up to now, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle has become a cultural need and a value in the spiritual life of each person and each organization, first of all in the political life of the Party.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized: "Whatever becomes culture becomes profound, enduring, and possesses a powerful inspirational force. With correct understanding and creative action, Ho Chi Minh culture will transmit an important impetus for us to build national values, cultural values, and the values of Vietnamese people in the Ho Chi Minh era, creating momentum for us to continue promoting innovation and creativity; proactively and comprehensively integrate into the international community; seize new opportunities and overcome all challenges and risks to build a faster and more sustainable developed country."

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong believes that the collectives and individuals honored this year will continue to strive, learn and practice regularly; preserve and promote the noble titles they have been honored with, spread their effects and influence, and set an example in society.

With today's commendations and awards, the patriotic emulation movement will develop even more deeply and broadly; there will be more exemplary role models, from collectives to individuals nationwide, in studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh; creating a strong impetus for the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army in the cause of renovation, construction, and protection of the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland; developing our country to become increasingly prosperous, thriving, civilized, and happy, as our beloved Uncle Ho always hoped, contributing to ensuring that his thoughts, ethics, and style will forever endure with the cultured and heroic Vietnamese nation.
