Experiencing Metro Line 1, General Secretary To Lam met and chatted with people on the train, listening to their enthusiastic sharing of their feelings about the mode of transport that helps shorten travel time within the city.

On February 22nd, during his working visit to Ho Chi Minh City, General Secretary To Lam personally experienced Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien) - the first subway line in Ho Chi Minh City.
Accompanying the General Secretary were comrades: Nguyen Van Nen, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Chief of the Central Party Office; and Bui Thanh Son, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During his journey from Ben Thanh Station to Tan Cang Station, General Secretary To Lam met and chatted cordially with the people on the train. The people enthusiastically shared their feelings about traveling on modern public transport, which significantly shortens travel time within the city, meets the great daily transportation needs of the people, and contributes to improving their quality of life.
Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien) is Ho Chi Minh City's first subway line, approved in 2007 and commenced construction in 2012 with a total investment of over 43,700 billion VND, connecting the city center with the eastern gateway.
The Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien Metro Line spans 19.7km, comprising 14 stations (three underground and eleven elevated) and a depot. The first station, which is also the central station, is Ben Thanh Station, and the final station is Suoi Tien Station.
Officially operational since December 22, 2024, Metro Line 1 has transported over 4.6 million passengers to date.
Ticket prices range from 7,000 to 20,000 VND per trip; a regular monthly pass costs 300,000 VND. Students receive a 50% discount, paying 150,000 VND per pass per month; and children under 6 years old, war veterans, seniors over 60, and people with disabilities travel free of charge.
Metro Line 1 not only helps alleviate traffic congestion in the city center but also expands urban development to the east of the city, thereby contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Metro Line 1 is not only a modern urban transportation project, but also a symbol of Ho Chi Minh City's aspiration for upward growth, integration, and sustainable development.
