General Secretary: Vietnam and Belarus upgrading relations is a historic milestone

The General Secretary expressed his delight at signing the Joint Statement on the establishment of a strategic partnership with Belarusian President A. Lukashenko. This is a historic milestone, creating a strong impetus to bring the relationship between the two countries into a new stage of development.

On May 12, in the capital Minsk, General Secretary To Lam had meetings with Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic (Senate) Natalya Kochanova, Chairman of the House of Deputies (Lower House) Igor Sergeyenko and leaders of the Communist Party and the Belarusian Party.

Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin highly appreciated the significance of the visit for the two countries' trusting political relations, and opened a new page in the history of bilateral cooperation with the upgrade to Strategic Partnership.

General Secretary To Lam stressed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship with Belarus and considers Belarus one of its important partners in the region. Vietnam will never forget Belarus' sincere support.

The General Secretary expressed his delight at signing the Joint Statement on the establishment of the Strategic Partnership with Belarusian President A. Lukashenko. This is a historic milestone, creating a strong impetus to bring the relationship between the two countries into a new stage of development; opening up many opportunities for businesses of the two countries to invest, expand markets, and improve competitiveness in the context of many changes in the global economy.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized Vietnam's determination to promote digital transformation, apply science and technology and innovation; develop green economy and circular economy; and implement strategic infrastructure projects such as highways and high-speed railways, creating momentum for rapid and sustainable development for the country.

General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Alexander Turchin agreed that the bilateral relationship is facing a new opportunity and needs to strongly promote the traditional foundation to expand substantive and effective cooperation.

The two leaders agreed to promote economic and trade relations worthy of the Strategic Partnership, strengthen industrial cooperation, including automobile and tractor production; cooperate in science and technology, education and training, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchange; and enhance exchanges between young generations to preserve and continue the tradition of friendship and traditional cooperation.

Highly agreeing with the cooperation proposals raised by General Secretary To Lam, the Belarusian Prime Minister agreed to promote cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, science and technology, transportation, especially the development of a multimodal freight transport system...

The Belarusian National Assembly leader congratulated General Secretary To Lam on being awarded the Friendship Medal by President A. Lukashenko, demonstrating Belarus' recognition of the General Secretary's great contributions to the relationship between the two countries.

The Belarusian National Assembly leader assessed General Secretary To Lam's visit as a historic one, with many agreements signed during the visit representing a new future for bilateral relations.

General Secretary To Lam and leaders of the Belarusian National Assembly agreed to bring bilateral relations into a new stage in a new era of development with specific measures.

In the spirit of the Strategic Partnership, the leaders agreed to increase delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, increase import-export turnover, science and technology, education and training, culture and tourism by considering the early opening of direct flights, people-to-people exchanges, and further strengthening cooperation between localities.

The two sides agreed to strengthen the supervision of signed documents, especially the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union; increase the exchange of information and experience in Party work, legislative work, and parliamentary activities; increase exchanges between specialized committees, between friendship parliamentarian groups and young parliamentarians; support each other at multilateral political party forums, inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), etc.

After hearing an introduction to the factory, the General Secretary assessed that many types of machines from the MTZ factory are suitable for Vietnam's conditions and are suitable for use in small and medium-sized industrial establishments. These vehicles and machines can be used in agriculture, construction and many other fields. Vietnam can cooperate in producing components such as engine parts, tires, etc. for export to many other markets.

The General Secretary hoped that the MTZ factory would have active cooperation with Vietnamese partners and that it would be increasingly expanded, contributing to the economic development of each country. If the cooperation is successful, it could become a symbol of Vietnam-Belarus relations.

On the evening of May 12, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left Minsk airport to return home, successfully concluding their visit to Belarus.
