On the morning of September 2, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam met with General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on the occasion of his visit to Vietnam to attend the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the 80th anniversary of National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

General Secretary To Lam welcomed and highly appreciated Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith for leading a high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State to attend the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 - a momentous event of great significance to the Party, State and people of Vietnam, demonstrating the special, loyal and rare solidarity between the two Parties and countries.
Laos sending a delegation of soldiers from the Lao People's Army to participate in the parade and march with the Vietnamese army and people is a great encouragement for Vietnam.
General Secretary To Lam affirmed that throughout the revolutionary cause, every victory of the Vietnamese people has been closely linked to the wholehearted support and assistance of the Lao Party, State and people. Vietnam always appreciates and deeply remembers that valuable support from the years of resistance to the cause of building, protecting and developing the country today. Vietnam will do its utmost together with Laos to preserve, nurture and develop the special Vietnam-Laos relationship to become increasingly stronger.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam expressed his respect and appreciation for the decision of the Lao Party and State to recognize the “Truong Son Trail - Ho Chi Minh Trail on Lao soil” as a National Historical Relic. This is an event of special significance in preserving and promoting historical values, demonstrating respect and honoring the solidarity and close bond between the armies and people of the two countries, while also remembering and paying tribute to tens of thousands of Vietnamese and Lao soldiers and youth volunteers who have devoted and sacrificed on this legendary route, contributing to affirming the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; being a red address to educate revolutionary traditions, fostering patriotism and solidarity for future generations.
On behalf of the Lao Party, State and people, General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith warmly congratulated the important event of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2; affirmed that the victory of the August Revolution and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945 was a great source of motivation for the cause of national liberation of Laos, and at the same time strongly encouraged the revolutionary movement and the struggle for peace of oppressed peoples around the world.
General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith said that sharing the joyful atmosphere of the Vietnamese people, Laos solemnly organized the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, with the participation of more than 1,500 delegates, including many senior leaders and representatives of Lao ministries, branches and organizations.
The Lao General Secretary and President considered Vietnam's achievements over the past 80 years to be the common achievements of the two countries; he shared that he clearly felt the passionate patriotism of the Vietnamese people when witnessing the vibrant and proud atmosphere of the entire Party, people and army of Vietnam in recent days.
General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith congratulated and emphasized that under the wise and talented leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, over the past 95 years and especially 80 years of nation building, Vietnam has achieved many great, outstanding and comprehensive achievements in innovation, political stability, rapid and sustainable economic development, expansion of foreign relations, and Vietnam's international role and position have been constantly enhanced in the region and the world; considering this a valuable lesson for Laos to strive, develop and build the country.

General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith informed each other about the situation of each party and each country, emphasizing that 2025 is of special importance, being the final year of the Party Congress term, towards the Congress of each Party in early 2026; the two sides continue to coordinate closely, share experiences in preparing for the Congress, contributing to the successful organization of the new National Congress of each Party.
The two leaders had a trusting, sincere and frank exchange on orientations and measures to promote cooperation in various fields, emphasizing that in the context of the current complicated developments in the world and region, the two countries need to increase consultation, exchange experiences, and coordinate to support each other to overcome difficulties and challenges.
In addition to strengthening cooperation in politics, defense and security, the two sides agreed to make efforts to raise the level and create breakthroughs in economic cooperation to match the political relationship, promote two-way trade turnover, strengthen economic infrastructure connectivity, focusing on implementing strategic cooperation projects, creating new momentum to open a new phase of effective and practical cooperation for the benefit of the two countries.

The two sides expressed their delight that many investment projects of Vietnamese enterprises in Laos in the fields of energy, agriculture, telecommunications, infrastructure, etc. are bringing practical results. The two countries are also coordinating to implement strategic infrastructure projects, including connecting transport and energy infrastructure, contributing to the sustainable development of economic and trade relations, more closely linked to the regional and international integration process.
The two leaders affirmed to continue to strengthen coordination of stances, expand international integration, ensure security, serve the development and interests of the people of the two countries. On the basis of precious traditions, the two countries will strengthen coordination in the international integration process, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world./.
