President Volodymyr Zelensky on December 22 submitted to the Ukrainian Parliament (Verkhovna Rada) a draft amendment to the law “on diplomatic missions”, which is said to promote the country's diplomacy in a more modern and effective direction.
According to the website of the President of Ukraine, Mr. Zelensky gave the above information during a meeting with Ukrainian diplomats in the capital Kiev on the occasion of "Traditional Day of Ukrainian Diplomacy".
Speaking at the meeting, the Ukrainian leader shared: “Today, I submitted the draft amendments to the law ‘on diplomatic missions’ to the Verkhovna Rada. The new criteria will make Ukraine’s diplomatic system more modern and create conditions for it to function more effectively.”
According to President Zelensky, the above legislative initiative intends to strengthen the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and establish the institution of the Special Representative of Ukraine.
In addition, the draft amended law also opens up the field of cyber diplomacy and related cooperation policy with Kiev's partners.
