RT reported on December 12th that President Trump asserted that all Ukrainians supported the US peace proposal, except for leader Zelensky.
"In fact, with the exception of President Zelensky, his close associates and the people of Ukraine really like the idea of this deal. It's a deal that could prevent thousands of people from dying every month," Trump said.
Mr. Trump added that there is still no agreement on the territory. "This is quite a complicated issue. This is not an easy problem to solve," the White House occupant said.

The Ukraine peace plan, unveiled by President Trump last month, reportedly requires Ukraine to withdraw its troops from areas in Donbass currently under Kyiv's control. This is also one of Russia's conditions for a ceasefire agreement. However, Zelensky has rejected ceding territory, stating on December 11 that the issue could ultimately be decided "through elections or referendums."
Meanwhile, Russia insists that for a comprehensive and peaceful solution, Ukraine must recognize the new borders. During his visit to India last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow would take control of the entire Donbass region through military action if Ukraine refused to withdraw its troops.
Previously, President Trump had said that Ukraine was losing ground to Russia and urged Zelensky to hold elections, as his five-year presidential term was set to end in May 2024.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also stressed that Ukraine needs to hold elections, because "the constitutional term of President (Zelensky) has expired."
