Ho Chi Minh City: Finding solutions to limit vehicles with high emission levels

On July 11, the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City sent a document to the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD), the Department of Industry and Trade and relevant units to study, calculate and propose a plan to limit vehicles with high emission levels in areas at high risk of environmental pollution, especially exhaust gas pollution, according to the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister.

Accordingly, the Department of Construction requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment and other units to comment on the emission levels of vehicles currently operating in Ho Chi Minh City. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to raising emission standards; there are regulations on criteria for each area and area with high pollution that need to limit traffic organization for high-emission vehicles as a basis for localities to implement.

At the same time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has opinions on identifying and publicizing information or guiding localities to identify and publicize information for high-emission areas. From there, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will propose solutions to control vehicle emissions in the city. In addition, this department needs to review, guide regulations, and advise on land policies to serve the development of parking infrastructure and charging stations for green vehicles.

The Department of Construction requested the Department of Industry and Trade and other units to give their opinions on solutions to control the production, import and supply of fuel for motor vehicles with quality in accordance with national technical regulations on gasoline, diesel fuel, biofuel to meet the roadmap for applying emission standards for motor vehicles in the city. From there, propose solutions to control the operation of technology vehicles in Ho Chi Minh City.
