At Ca Mau High School, teacher Le Kieu Diem proactively included the issue of high-tech crime in the content of the class's Experiential Activities. According to her, this is a familiar, practical topic and suitable for the cognitive needs of students today.
“Equipping children with knowledge is the best way to protect them from the increasing risk of high-tech fraud,” Ms. Diem shared.
Immediately after being assigned the task, the class was divided into many groups to actively search for documents, analyze the situation and build presentation content. Within just 2 weeks, the students were well prepared to enter the exciting experiential lesson.
The experiential activity on the topic "Preventing high-tech crimes in schools" attracted students' attention.
The classroom atmosphere became lively when each group of students took turns presenting their products. Many groups boldly innovated their presentation methods: one group created a video simulating an online fraud situation; another group created a skit with the content of reenacting phone calls impersonating the police; another group designed a scientific , intuitive, easy-to-understand infographic; and another group even dramatized an "online kidnapping" situation that had once caused public confusion.
The situations that students presented were quite diverse, reflecting the reality that was happening: from messages impersonating banks asking for OTP codes and accounts; malicious links leading to fake websites; fake news, spam, to the form of recruiting online collaborators to defraud and steal money from gullible people. The fact that students could analyze the nature of the problem showed a certain level of interest and understanding of the online environment.
Many students are interested in learning about the problem of online kidnapping.
Do Thi Tuyet Anh, Class 11A1, said: “I am very excited about the topic the teacher gave me, which will help me gain the necessary knowledge when using social platforms. Moreover, I can also guide my family members on how to prevent it.”
Many other students also said that such lessons are very useful, helping them avoid falling into the trap of online scams that are increasingly spreading.
According to Ms. Le Kieu Diem, cyber safety education not only helps students recognize risks but also guides them on how to respond when encountering unusual situations.
“ The important thing is to equip students with the knowledge to handle the situation calmly, not panic, not follow the requests of strangers and immediately report to teachers, parents or authorities. We want students to understand that prevention is always better than handling the situation after it has happened, ” Ms. Diem emphasized.
Lessons like this contribute to innovation in education, creating opportunities for students to practice teamwork skills, critical thinking and presentation skills. At the same time, the content of cyber security education is consistent with the orientation of developing digital citizens that the education sector has been implementing recently. This is the "first shield" - the most important - against the risk of high-tech crimes invading and affecting school life./.
