This is a practical activity to welcome the 14th National Congress of the Party; Celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (1950 - 2025), and launch the "Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange Year" to strengthen cooperation in the field of music between the two countries. The festival is organized by the Vietnam Musicians Association in coordination with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City; Ho Chi Minh City Television; Ho Chi Minh City Music Association.

The 2025 National Music Festival is a festival for musicians and music lovers, aiming to honor and promote new musical works and projects, continuing to encourage and stimulate creative exploration in the fields of: Composition, performance and music training. This is also an opportunity to meet, exchange and interact in music between domestic and international musicians and performing artists, meeting the increasing demand for art enjoyment of the public. The works and performances participating in the festival focus on reflecting the themes of the Party, Uncle Ho, the current construction and protection of our Fatherland, love for the homeland, country, traditional Vietnamese culture and in the era of national development; culture and international friendship.
The 2025 National Music Festival includes two areas: Music Works Festival; Vietnamese Voice Festival and Instrumental Solos (Repertoire Festival). The festival also includes a Vietnam-China Friendship Symphony Music Performance.
For the Music Works Festival, the Organizing Committee requires that participating works must be new compositions in 2024 and 2025 by members of the Vietnam Musicians Association from branches and musician groups nationwide, and have not participated in any competitions of central organizations, departments and branches. The works must be in the genre of songs or ensembles, solo instruments (duration not exceeding 7 minutes/work).
For the Festival of performances by singers and artists, the performance piece is a song or instrumental solo, chosen by the singer or artist but must be a Vietnamese work with high technical content. Artists participating in the festival are members or non-members of the Vietnam Musicians Association, selected by the association branch to participate.

In particular, this year's festival is also a forum for exchange, discussion and performance of new musical compositions by Vietnamese and Chinese musicians, singers and artists. On this occasion, the Vietnam Musicians Association, in collaboration with the Guangxi Academy of Arts (China), organized the composition, staging and performance of the Vietnam - China friendship concert on the closing night (November 2) at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House. Notably, in the program, Vietnamese and Chinese artists will perform 8 symphonic works and 2 songs composed by Vietnamese and Chinese musicians.
The Organizing Committee also said that there will be over 600 musicians and artists participating in the Festival from 38 Vietnam Musicians Associations from provinces and cities across the country, with over 185 performances... Regarding the award structure, the Organizing Committee will award A and B prizes to musical works participating in the festival; Gold and Silver medals to performances by artists, singers and ensembles.
