
The Military Command (CHQS) and the Gia Lai Provincial Police have just held a launching ceremony to rebuild houses for people in flood-hit areas, striving to complete and hand over before January 31, 2026 so that people can celebrate the Lunar New Year 2026 in their new houses.
In Hai Bac area, Quy Nhon Dong ward, 100 officers and soldiers of the Provincial Police and Infantry Regiment 739, under the Provincial Military Command, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony to build new houses for the above-mentioned households.
Mr. Le Thach Ngoc's family, whose house recently collapsed, was allocated land by the local government to build a new 63m2 house in a residential area. (KDC) interspersed with Hai Bac area. Mr. Ngoc shared: “I am very happy and touched when the army and police forces helped to rebuild the house that was severely damaged by the storm. I would like to thank the Party, the State and all levels of government for their support.”
Major General Le Quang Nhan - Director of Gia Lai Provincial Police said: "Implementing the direction of the Central Public Security Party Committee, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, the police force, the army and the local government are urgently coordinating to complete procedures and implement construction, in order to build and repair houses for people in time to welcome the Lunar New Year 2026. In Gia Lai alone, the Ministry of Public Security is supporting 50 million VND per house to rebuild 20 houses collapsed due to storms and floods."
Major General Le Quang Nhan emphasized: "Supporting the construction of new houses for people in disaster areas is not only an urgent task, but also a meaningful work, helping people have a safe and stable place to live to stabilize their lives after storms and floods."
Speaking at the launching ceremony to build new houses for people in Chanh Hoi village (Ngo May commune), Colonel Mai Kim Binh - Political Commissar of Gia Lai Provincial Military Command said: "The Army's participation in rebuilding houses for people in flood-hit areas is an important political task, deeply demonstrating the tradition of military-civilian solidarity, promoting the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era".
Colonel Mai Kim Binh requested the construction teams to be determined to carry out the "Quang Trung Campaign" with the spirit of speed and the highest responsibility. Implement the motto "working during the day is not enough, take advantage of working at night", "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain". Along with that, make the most of all materials and means in the establishment to carry out the task; strive to hand over the houses before January 31, 2026 so that people can celebrate the Lunar New Year 2026 in their new houses.
Colonel Mai Kim Binh also noted that in the process of performing tasks, agencies and units must thoroughly educate 100% of officers and soldiers to strictly comply with the law, military discipline, local regulations and strictly maintain civil discipline; ensuring absolute safety in all aspects.
“To carry out the task of building at least 100 new houses for people in flood-hit areas, the Provincial Military Command has established 20 teams of workers; the Provincial Border Guard Command has established 4 teams of workers. Each team has 10-15 officers and soldiers; 3-5 highly skilled construction workers are assigned. In addition, forces of the 34th Corps including the 31st Division and the 34th Corps Military School will also participate in this task” - Colonel Mai Kim Binh shared.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, the military units coordinated with local Party committees, authorities and families to survey and determine the location of each specific house; coordinate, agree on content, time, design, and handover to construction teams of the units to ensure implementation in communes and wards in the province. Gia Lai Provincial Military Command will regularly exchange and grasp the situation, determined to complete the assigned tasks with the 34th Corps.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Thai - Secretary of the Party Committee of Ngo May Commune (Gia Lai Province) said that the recent storm and flood caused heavy damage to the locality. Of which, the whole commune had 14 houses completely collapsed, 147 houses had their roofs severely damaged, 746 houses had their roofs damaged by 30-70% and more than 3,000 houses were flooded. "In the face of the difficulties of the people, the timely support and assistance of military units is the most solid support for the locality and the people to quickly overcome the damage caused by natural disasters. The Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune will direct the relevant forces of the commune to work with the highest spirit, coordinate smoothly with military units to ensure that the new houses of the people are not only fast but also beautiful and solid" - Mr. Thai said.
In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province has also submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for approval a list of projects to relocate people in disaster areas. According to the submission, the whole province has 16 areas that need urgent relocation with 2,223 households needing resettlement, of which 1,861 households need to move to new places. The total estimated cost is about 1,840 billion VND. Particularly, the eastern area of Gia Lai province has 9 resettlement areas for 1,269 households, of which 907 households need to relocate, with an estimated cost of 960 billion VND. The western area of the old Gia Lai province has 7 areas with 954 households needing to move, with a cost of about 880 billion VND.
Many coastal residential areas threatened by high tides and landslides will be resettled, including Cat Tien, Phu My Dong, Phu My Bac, An Hoa, De Gi, Quy Nhon Dong, and low-lying areas in the lower reaches of the Ba River such as Ia Broai, Ia Hiao, Uar, Ia Ly, Ia Rsai, Ia Tul...
According to Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, the province will develop appropriate support policies for resettled people, and at the same time divide livelihood groups to support job conversion. People with traditional occupations will be given favorable conditions to maintain their jobs, while young workers will be supported with free vocational training. For households whose houses have collapsed but the area is still safe, the province will support rebuilding according to current policies; households in vulnerable areas will be arranged new houses in resettlement areas.
