Deploying a plan to handle the incident of a stranded ship in Ninh Thuan waters

On the afternoon of October 18, the Department of Transport held a working session to listen to a report on how to handle the Thanh Hung 06 ship that ran aground in the waters of Ninh Thuan province. Attending were leaders of relevant departments, branches and agencies.

According to the report, Thanh Hung 06 ship with registration number SG-8557, on February 26, 2023, on an unloaded journey from Dong Nai to Cam Ranh, when passing through the sea of ​​Ninh Thuan province, suffered a rudder failure. Due to the influence of bad weather, big waves and strong winds, Thanh Hung 06 ship drifted and ran aground in the Bai Thong sea area, Vinh Tuong village, Phuoc Dinh commune (Thuan Nam), the location of Thanh Hung 06 ship running aground is outside the seaport waters according to the provisions of Circular 27/2020/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport . At that time, there were about 600 liters of oil on board, the ship was on land, water flooded the engine room and cargo holds.

Based on the opinions and proposals of the delegates at the working session, the leaders of the Department of Transport requested relevant departments, branches, agencies and vehicle owners to continue to coordinate in implementing the plan to rescue stranded ships in the Ninh Thuan sea area according to regulations, in order to limit losses to vehicles, avoid the risk of environmental pollution, affect general maritime activities in the area and security and order in the sea area where the stranded ship is.
