Exhibition and award ceremony of the second drawing contest 'Vietnam's cultural heritage through painting'

(CLO) The closing ceremony, award ceremony and opening of the second "Vietnam's Cultural Heritage through Painting" exhibition attracted nearly 1,000 authors with 1,320 entries.

On December 3 in Hanoi , the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association coordinated with the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund to organize the closing ceremony, award ceremony and opening exhibition of the second "Vietnam Cultural Heritage through Painting" painting contest in 2025.

Speaking at the award ceremony the same morning, Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Tru, Chairman of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, said that after 13 months of launching (from August 29, 2024 to September 30, 2025), the organizing committee received 1,320 entries, 1.5 times higher than the first contest. The number of participating authors reached 990 people, double the previous number.

The contest attracted a large number of participants, including 85 authors from ethnic minorities, 249 students and Vietnamese students living in Japan, Australia, England, etc. The contestants' ages ranged from 6 to 84 years old.

The materials of the works are diverse: 436 acrylic paintings, 251 oil paintings, 145 graphic prints, along with lacquer paintings, silk, do paper and some creative materials such as roasted rice, torn paper. After the preliminary and final rounds, the jury selected 100 works for the final round.

The final results included 30 award-winning works, including: 1 First prize (75 million VND), 2 Second prizes (each prize worth 50 million VND), 3 Third prizes (each prize worth 40 million VND), 19 Encouragement prizes and 3 Youth prizes (each prize worth 10 million VND).

On the afternoon of December 3, the competition exhibition opened at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, introducing 100 representative works, including award-winning and finalist works. The exhibition space offers diverse perspectives on Vietnam's cultural heritage.

The organizers said the exhibition aims to spread the beauty of heritage and raise awareness of preserving national culture in the community.

According to the orientation of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, from the success of the second contest, the third contest will be held in the period 2026-2027 and the fourth in the period 2028-2029. The fourth contest is expected to have the theme of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, aiming to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2030.
