Trinh Thu Vinh could not create a miracle in the final of the women's 25m air pistol event.
At 2:30 p.m. today (August 3), Trinh Thu Vinh entered the finals of the women's 25m air pistol event at the Paris Olympics. Facing the 2000-born shooter were very strong opponents such as Yang Jiin (Korea, gold medalist of the Asian Shooting Championship), Manu Bhaker (India, current bronze medalist of the women's 10m air pistol event), Veronika Major (Hungary, leading the qualifying round) or Camille Jedrzejewski (host France). However, despite competing in an event that was not her forte, Thu Vinh still competed very hard. After the first three qualifying rounds, the Thanh Hoa -born shooter was tied for second place, only behind the leading shooter Yang Jiin. However, the turning point came in the first round of direct shooting (the fourth round of the final). While Thu Vinh continued to only win 3 points, other shooters such as Bhaker, Yang Jiin or Major all accelerated, causing Thu Vinh to be pushed down to sixth place.

Thu Vinh then only lasted one more round of shots. In the fifth round of the final (the second knockout round), the Vietnamese shooter still only got 3 points, equivalent to 3 shots out of 10.2 points. Thu Vinh fell to seventh place and was eliminated in this category, ending the hope of winning the first medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the Olympics.
Former head coach of Vietnam's shooting team Nguyen Thi Nhung shared on her personal page about her former student
The final of the women's 25m air pistol was very dramatic. After the shooters were gradually eliminated, only Yang Jiin and Camille Jedrzejewski went to the deciding shootout. Both shooters had 33 points in the tenth shootout, then had to enter the shootout. Here, Yang Jiin was more confident when he shot 4 points, while Camille only got 1 point. The shooter born in 2003 won the gold medal, continuing to help the Korean sports delegation dominate the shooting event. Previously, in the women's 10m air pistol and 10m rifle events, the champions were all Korean. Thu Vinh closed the Olympics with two finals, respectively finishing fourth (women's 10m air pistol) and seventh (women's 25m air pistol). This is a commendable step forward for a shooter who has only 7 years of shooting training, but can compete equally with the world's top opponents.
