Previously, at 6:00 a.m. on September 1, the commander of Truong Sa island received a distress signal from fishing boat BD 97652 TS about a seriously injured fisherman. Specifically, the injured fisherman was Mr. Tran Di, 70 years old, residing in Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province. While fishing on fishing boat BD 97652 TS of Binh Dinh province, the fishing net rope got tangled around his leg, nearly severing his right ankle.

The island commander quickly directed doctors on the island to prepare emergency plans and guide fishing boats to anchor in port.

Upon entering the Medical Center, the infirmary's doctors and nurses examined and diagnosed that the patient had a severed right ankle due to a work accident at the 15th hour, and had high blood pressure. The military doctors of the Truong Sa Island Medical Center performed initial first aid measures to stabilize the patient.

After 10 days of treatment, the patient's health has almost recovered. To facilitate the treatment and ensure the patient's long-term health, the island commander, along with the medical team of the Medical Center and the patient, agreed to hand over the patient to the 473 ship of the Navy Region 4 to bring him to the mainland for further treatment.
