The hypothetical situation is that an oil spill occurs in the water area in front of the wharf of the Da Nang City Border Guard Squadron 1 (Nui Thanh Commune, Da Nang City).
During the move, when about 50m from Squadron 1, the fishing boat had a broken propeller, causing the boat to take on water and risk sinking.

When the incident occurred, the ship contained about 2m3 of DO oil, some of which spilled out, affecting the surrounding areas. Ship A gradually sank, flooding the fuel tank, and the DO oil in the tank spilled into the surrounding water. The oil trail after spilling out spread with the tide and wind, tending to flow into the inside of Squadron 1's wharf and areas sensitive to fire and explosion.
Immediately upon receiving the incident report, the Da Nang City Border Guard Command and the Vietnam Environmental Incident Response Center directed the deployment of emergency response facilities; blockaded the scene and surrounded the oil; Squadron 2 deployed oil spill collection work.
Squadron 1 mobilized officers and soldiers along with specialized canoes and oil containment buoys to carry out response measures; urgently coordinated to deodorize, pump out spilled oil, and handle oil slicks on the water surface.
After completing the troubleshooting, Squadron 1 coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang City to collect samples for environmental quality analysis; and coordinated with relevant agencies to determine the damage.

Colonel Phan Van Thi, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Da Nang City Border Guard Command, said that the sea area of Nui Thanh commune is particularly sensitive to the environment, as many large transport ships enter and exit every day. This is also an area with many fishing boats. This area always has boats passing through on the international shipping route, so there is a high risk of collisions and accidents leading to oil spills. Therefore, improving oil spill response skills is an urgent task to protect the environment and maritime safety.
